Oil-Rich Nations Fall Far Short in Haiti Donations

They contributed just as much as I did. I don't see a problem here...

I still say Steven Seagal should go over there and donate his awesome Deputy skills to keeping peace and order in Haiti.

Now on a serious note:

Aside from that they are talking about Saudi Arabia and Iran. But given all the money Haiti is being given to restore and get peace and all that they are still going to remain a poor country and act as if they have no money at all.

If we are going to go through with the giving of all this money what we should do is use the money to buy contractors in different fields, send them over there, help build living quarters for the people of Haiti, supply canned and dry foods, clothing, and keep the Haitian government out of it. Keep a close watch that things go smoothly. The first sign of Haitian government interference of donations, money, or the restoration of the country we pull out and leave them in a mess and hope the people of Haiti find a voice and get rid of their corrupt, useless government officials. A good way to weed out those who want to interfere and try and collect personally on the donations.

I know it sounds unrealistic to some, thing is, think about it. If we keep the money, build to their economical limit, I mean obviously the people of Haiti were not living all that lavish, but given how much they been donated to, they can now live a bit better than they were a few weeks ago.

Thing is, we need to keep their government's hands off the donations and try my idea. However, it won't happen, so yeah. Just a windpipe dream, I guess.

Granted, its from Fox so take it with a grain of salt, I suppose.

Please. Numbers are numbers. Leave the "I'm gonna be hip by ragging on Fox" bullshit behind.

As to the subject, I'm not surprised, nor should anyone else be. The "oil countries" are also the greediest nations on Earth. While it's always the U.S. that gets slapped with accusations of greed and malice, the fact is that America does more for the world than anyone else, and Haiti is a prime example of that. Americans have donated close to $400 million dollars to Haiti, with more to come. The "evil" U.S. military is restoring order, rebuilding infrastructure, caring for the wounded and disseminating supplies. Let the oil sheiks sit in their palaces and count their gold. As the saying goes, "We got this."

It 'sounds' good but you know damn well that the rest of the world would associate all of these "good deeds" as being yet another extension of EVIL American Capitalist Investment propping up a dirt cheap labor source for the express purpose of manufacturing cheap...whatever... Disney t-shirts and such, for all we know, they may be correct. :dunno:

A big Affirmative on that, I agree wholeheartedly, but, there is certainly some room in our own government for, among other things, improvement insofar as general accounting goes.

Who gets to divvy out the monies and select the contractors etc etc.

Re: Oil-Rich Nations Fall Far Short in Haiti Donations

Not much help here either, Johsty...> Indonesians & Sri Lankans are the muslim brothers and sisters of the oil rich nations, what gives ? ! The muzzies don't really take good care of each other at all, remember in Mecca was it (?) all of those Muslims that got trampled or fell to their death on that bridge a couple of years back and even that Nigerian kid who attempted to blow that Christmas day flight right out of the sky above one of the most concentrated muzzie populations in America ! Anyway, there are several other examples that just slipped my mind, but you get the general idea. I guess that compassion is viewed as weakness in that culture, we never seem to get any cred when it comes to saving the lives of innocent, non combative muzzies, at least I haven't seen any examples of it.

Article title is quite misleading and should have been titled "Oil-Rich Saudi Arabia Fall Far Short in Haiti Donations" because according to this excerpt, Joshua has singled out Iran for not donating cash to assist Haitian victims, yet he contradicted his own statement with the other excerpt.

All — including you — have donated more funds to the Haitian relief effort than oil-rich nations like Saudi Arabia and Iran.

That's right ... if you personally have donated money to help the earthquake-stricken people of Haiti, then you have contributed more money than the governments of Saudi Arabia and Iran, whose combined dollar donation is a big fat zero.

Here's the contradictory excerpt:

And Iran, which has seen its share of cataclysmic earthquakes, has offered 30 tons of food, tents and medicine. (Its Red Crescent has also donated $106,000).

Here's another article which is more accurate than the one above.

SAUDI ARABIA: Unlike Qatar, Iran and Jordan, kingdom fails to cough up Haiti cash

I included the disclaimer to keep the haters at bay by qualifying the remarks. But I rarely watch anything on Fox News, anyway.

Ah, I get that. Sorry for pouncing, then. I don't tune the cable box to Fox much myself, but I get so incredibly tired of the "Me too! Me too! I hate Fox too! I'm cool too!" crap I see people post all over the internet, that I thought your were doing the same. My apologies. :hatsoff:

I Agree.

This is totally incredible, it' like you MUST give for Haiti. If you say you didn't give, tells you you're an asshole.

By that logic the same holds true for New Orleans. I didn't give those dumbfucks a dime and you know why? Because I had to deal with some of those refugee scumbags that they shipped to Des Moines. That, and they're stupid enough to live below sea level.

Three years after Katrina hit, the state of Iowa had 88 out of 99 counties declared disaster areas due to flooding. We didn't look to FEMA to bail us out. We helped our neighbors rebuild and counted on self-reliance. I'd love to go to the NFC championship and put a hurricane scare into those assholes.

But I digress. The victims of the earthquake don't have the ability to pick and choose where they live. Even some of what we consider poor in New Orleans would be considered rich in a third world country like Haiti. The schmucks in NO had forecasts telling them exactly what was coming and many still stayed. The people of Haiti didn't have that advantage.
