I'm interested in what you think are the biggest misconceptions about the porn industry or the people who work in it. When regular people think of porn they have a image in their head of drugs, filth and shady business... So please, dispel some rumours for us, s.v.p. If you could set the record straight on one stereotype of the porn industry or the people in it, what would it be?

Porn is a stereotype. The truth is that we represent the average girl/woman with the only difference being that we don't pretend to have just one partner. Girls/women not in porn are more often than not as promiscuous as pornstars; giving head for a dinner or a drink or the chance to hit it big with a rich guy, attending swinger clubs, changing bed partner on every night out, college parties and bachelors, fucking your boss, online dating...all the above without health safety measures and pretending that it never happened. But it happens all the time...much more often than you know or you want to acknowledge.

I hate that people think that we are all rich. I bust my ass every day all day and I'm not rich, not even close. So I get pissed when someone tweets something about the money I must have, I mean I do more than ok for myself but to assume we make tons of cash is simply not the case.

If you have ever visited a porn webmaster forum you too would think that most people in porn are into shady business. I once saw a webmster ask the other people on a board if it was considered bad taste to continue to update a models site after she had died and pretend like nothing had happened. Absolutely unbelievable. I did quite a bit of checking of webmaster forums a few years ago when i decided to give it a try to work as a graphic designer and the unbelievably cynical (and often probably even illegal) way of doing business there made me take the decision to not work for anyone in the adult industry (unless if it was for someone i already knew and trusted).

The website side of things is definitely shady. I have seen all sorts of nasty stuff going on between webmasters, affiliates, linking programs, and talent that shut sites down permanently. Back when nude/non-nude Internet modeling sites and amateur porn sites were the flavor of the month, there was a lot of epic drama from the likes of Phil Flash and other siterunners/photogs who brought drama to the table. Basically, anyone with a camera, a few thousand bucks, and some HTML skills was getting in on the business from 1998 to 2006 and it brought a lot nasty people into the mix, most of whom are no longer working in the industry thankfully.
