I hate watching those. With Bush it was just the Republicans applauding the entire time. With Obama, it'll just be the Democrats. All it ever shows me is how split and child-like our government is that it is irritating. I'll just look up the summary the next day. More than likely I'll just go out and drink

Whatever you think about him, he's doing a bang up fricking speech. He's relaxed, conversational, and in no way painful to watch speak.

Not what he said. He's bringing all the combat troops home by August. There will be support troops there until 2011. That's the plan, has been for a while.

We have support troops in hundreds of countries as it is. No big deal. Combat troops are the ones that need to get the fuck out of there.
PS - Did anyone else notice the stone faces on the Armed Forces members in the audience during Obama's announcement that he was going to work with Congress to repeal "don't ask, don't tell"...??? That was pretty serious.

Does this mean he will own up to his campaign promise and not have closed-door meetings anymore for healthcare? Will he actually invite Senators & Representatives from BOTH parties to meetings to work out a plan? Will he finally allow C-Span to broadcast these meetings?
