Norway's Incredibly Luxurious Halden Prison: $1 Million of Art and Flat-Screen TVs in Every Cell

Halden has a gym, training room, chapel, library, family visiting unit, football (possibly soccer) field, a school, and, most unbelievably, a sound studio.

It's a gorgeous, ultra-modern structure right near the Swedish border, comprised of cells that are arranged in units of 10 to 12, much like a college dorm. Except these cells are actually better than most dorms, since every cell comes with a private bathroom and a flat-screen TV, as well as a view--the windows don't even have bars in them.

Of course they don't have bars in them....
Why would they want to leave? :dunno:

It's all aimed at rehabilitating, rather than necessarily punishing, criminals, which is a noble exercise and all that, but it's sort of personally embarrassing to me to know that a prison is more luxurious than some of my past apartments.

Interesting social experiment nonetheless.......Of course people are gonna come in here and flame like mental about it but I reckon they should wait a few years to see what the outcome is and do comparisons on rehabiliation and repeat offenses.....If it is higher then yep its a fucking shit idea, If it is lower then they just proved more might have been achieved with the carrot especially if these guys are getting degrees and shit in their and hence become productive members of society.

Sure you can just look at American jails well I dont know need an American to tell me.....Is it really like the cliche and movies make out.....You go in and you basically gotta be in a some sorta gang, its full of violence, Drugs and bum fuck rape........And about the only thing You Might learn is how to be a more efficient criminal.

Ah, no studio needed if the sound should be "true". But you gonna need some guitars, bass and drums, all of which Varg Vikernes didn't get access to during his time in prison, so he recorded two Dark Ambient albums in the name of BURZUM (Dauði Baldrs & Hliðskjálf). That's one way to circumvent lack of instruments.

Man, would he have been sent to that luxury prison, BURZUM would have recorded some real Black Metal albums.

But since "greven" is a free man again (actually on parole) a new BURZUM album will come out in March entitled Belus and obviously it's Black Metal again...:banger:
