Did nicotine patches help you to stop smoking? What is your opinion of them?
I'm wearing one right now.....they
do work, but you still have to have tremendous self control.....they help, but the psychological effects are still going to haunt you. That is where I have stumbled in the past.....but right now, I am doing pretty well......since Jan. 1, I have had one......it was in a stupid moment of weakness, and I didn't really even want it, but I still did. Still, just a slip.....haven't touched one today, and I don't really have the desire to.
"I've heard that the anti smoking pill works best. And no, I don't know the specifics i.e. the name of the drug."
I think it's called Chiantix, or something similar to that, and it actually is supposed to be kind of a miracle worker. I had a co-worker that smoked for nearly all of her life, had tried to quit numerous times using patches, gum, etc. to no avail. She had her doctor write her a prescription, and bam, no more smoking. I don't know what kind of health care coverage you have (I have the holy god, I hope nothing happens to me kind), but you might want to look into that. Doctors these days are
very willing to write a prescription for them, and I believe that they are not too expensive.
I wish you all the best luck in the world.....I am still fighting to break free of the chains of nicotine.....it's not easy, but, very few things that are worthwhile ever are. You can do it. Just remember that you are not losing a friend, like it feels like you are, but rather are kicking out of your life something that wants to destroy you very slowly from the inside out.
My Grandfather died from smoking. They said they had to spend several minutes reshaping his face after he died because he was straining so hard for breath.
I don't know about you, but I don't want to go out like that.
