Talented & gifted guy for many years. He was an icon. Did not realize he wrote for so many people as he was a great stand up comedian himself.

Yeah, The dude was a master of his craft. Just the Pryor writing credit puts him in the upper tier, as far as I'm concerned.

68 views, and only one other person besides me, commented on the greatness of an African American Icon, who himself tackled racism, and exploited it for comedic sake. Please, PLEASE don't tell me people are afraid to pay respect just because of the thread title?!?! This guy, much like all early comedians, used a straight faced delivery that made it all work....back then, but look at it know.
Political correctness has destroyed comedy. The greats, black or white, would be shamed out of existence. I thank the good lord above, men like Richard Pryor, and George Carlin, aren't around to see the sad state of affairs.

So true that is what I miss is the stand up comedy. Then you had Johnny Carson on the Tonight Show with his great skits and the way he would interact with other comedians on the show. Plus all the stand up comedians over the years that made us laugh, made us think and laugh at the same time. Also their were some great comedians like George Lopez, Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias, Carlos Mencia, Cheech Marin, Paul Rodrigues so many more including female comedians.

Paul Mooney was a talented comedy writer. Probably like you say a genius. In fact, I was going to put a tribute video up - the Chevy Chase / Richard Pryor skit - that they did for Saturday Night Live, that Mooney wrote originally for the Richard Pryor Show. However I came upon the very disturbing videos of Rashon Khan (Richard Pryor's ex-bodyguard and trainer) who alleges that Mooney was a ********* and ****** who attacked Pryor's young ***. There is a second video out by Mr. Khan stating that Richard Pryor was about to put a contract out on Paul Mooney's life because of it but that the hit was stopped because of Mr. Pryor catching on fire and he was hospitalized for an extended time. I'm not taking sides here. Just stating the facts. So forget me putting up any tributes to Mr. Mooney.

With all due respect, this is absolute bollocks. What you mean is that it's made comedy something you personally don't like anymore. And if you think 'non-PC' comedy doesn't exist anymore then you're not looking very hard, are you.

Please don't refrain from posting on my account. If the man needs to be seen for what he is, then that is far more important then kissing his his ass because he's dead.
Steve, I didn't intentionally mean to take credit for my comment, but it is loosely based on a quote by Mel Brookes. Personally I think political correctness has ruined FAR MORE then just comedy.
