Need Landscaping Advice (Weed Problem)

I'm having an issue with my gravel driveway being overtaken by grass and weeds and it looks like shit. I don't want to spend a fortune on Roundup weed killer as I would need about 4gal. only to have them return in a few months. And there is way to many to pull by hand.So I got to thinking....what about using drain cleaner? That stuff has all kinds of nasty shit in it, lye, acid, sodium chloride, etc. And I can get the generic stuff at the dollar store for a buck a gallon.

Thoughts?

I used round up once a year on my sidewalk and driveway. They never came back until the following year.

But can always try salt or boiling water.

Ok upon further findings salt isn't as effective for some. So boiling water or vinegar.

These are really big patches of weeds. I tried roundup last year, worked great for a few months then came back. I've tried the salt trick to change the Ph of the soil underneath but it didn't work very well. After a few really heavy rains it must have washed out the soil?? I was hoping the drano would chemically alter the soil so I wouldn't have to do it again for awhile.

Put in a cement driveway instead. Or move.

You're welcome.

I like your style.

Or fire. He could set fire to everything and on his insurance claim get a real driveway when he rebuilds his home.

Thanks, but I like yours better. Fire solves all problems, big and small.

I was waiting for someone to say that. Thanks

My mother likes to come over and sit on the back porch of my house and sit by the water. She uses a walker at times and she couldn’t navigate on the grass and she asked if we could have cement walkways poured for her to get around easier. Once they got started the project grew and I am convinced part of it could be used as a make shift emergency runway.
A job that started out estimated costs of 5000 bucks grew to 18,000 bucks.

Nothing too good for dear old mom!

But seriously boil boil water with vinegar. Attach to garden hose spray bottle and spray directly on weeds. Make sure doesn't hit edge where grass is and other plants you want to save. That should do it.

Funny I am the first to click on the thread title, thinking, Is this guy wanting to hide his marihuana plants by arranging other plants or some other gardening structure?

I got weed on my mind now!

*Update* The boiling water/vinegar trick worked amazing. I'm sold, cheap, eco friendly and fast. I poured several 5 gallon buckets of boiling water spiked with the nasty vinegar about an hour ago and they are already wilted and dying. Worked so good I did the perimeter of my house so I don't have to weed whack. ;)

Authorities say a homeowner trying to kill troublesome weeds with a torch has burned down his garage.

The Springfield News-Sun reports Springfield Township firefighters in central Ohio were called to a home around 4 a.m. Thursday for a detached garage engulfed in flames.

No one was injured.

Fire officials learned the man had been trying to eliminate weeds around the garage. They're calling the blaze an accident.

The destroyed garage held tools and appliances. Fire officials estimate the loss at between $10,000 and $15,000.

Some are obviously not as fortunate with their weed problems. :1orglaugh

Try OrthoMax weed killer. It does an effective kill within three hours. You should dilute a few spoonfuls of Ortho with several cups of water in a spray bottle.

You can try cheaper weed killers like Eliminator or Spectracide. But when I use Eliminator it takes anywhere between 7-10 days for it to show results.
