Need for Speed Hot Pursuit

hey,
as you may know, there's a new nfs coming out this fall. i personally didn't like the last ones very much - but i think the upcoming title has definitely potential.
nfs is finally going back to its roots: open world gameplay, tons of awesome cars and high speed police chases (which have always been popular among the fans of the franchise).
one last fact makes me believe that nfs hot pursuit could turn out to be a good game: it is developed by criterion game - and with their burnout series they have definitely proven that they can make pretty awesome racing games.

so, what do you think about it?

The last Need for Speed I played was Underground for the GameCube.

open world is not nfs's roots.its underground's roots

actually nfs hasn't been popular among gaming fans for the last 4 years.undercover and carbon both weren't liked by fans

i am a big fan of NFS but their games haven't brought anything new recently but still i would like it to come back

criterion is one of my fav devs and love the burnout series so they would help

one thing is bad that its releasing next to the megaton GRAN TURISMO 5 which will destroy the sales of NFS

what the fuck you lookin at?
Last good nfs game was Most Wanted, carbon was total shit and pro street wasn't much better than that. Followed by undercover which I had hopes for since they brought back the chases, yet that feel hard into the shit category right along side carbon. But this does look good. If anyone can revive the series Criterion can! And since it looks like the game focuses mostly on the chases, even more so than MW did, that sure to be fun as hell and challenging at the same time!

Never liked racing games at all, where is the fun about driving around and around in a car.

you jst don't drive,is there are challenges, career or story then that makes it very easy as they motivate you as your are curious and want to try the new thing on offer in the game

and have you ever played Burnout, that needs no motivation.jst pure fun

i totally agree! burnout is one of the best racing games out there.
racing games are just like any other game: they have a certain audience. in this case the audience likes driving around and completing challenges... it's all a question of taste.
but back to topic: sure, releasing nfs at the same time as gt5 might not be the best thing to do - but as gt5 has a way more realistic gameplay and is ps3-eclusive, ea should be able to sell a good amount of copies, too. besides, the consumer usually benefits from more competition...

bit i fear as NFS sales have been horrible in ht elast couple of years

with underground on PS2,it used to do 7m on PS2 alone

and now it does 2.5-3 on all platform and aroundn 1.5-2m comes from PS3

Racing games get good when played in group

NFS always gets my vote. I played all of them and liked all except NFS Undercover, that's one game I wish should't have played. That's the much hyped but worst release in NFS history but on the other hand NFSU iphone version is not bad

i loved nfs but ea just milked it to death, year after year

i just wished that they gave nfs and all their games a bit of time like 2-3 gap and we could have another awesome nfs
