The short of it is that Ed O'Bannon played basketball for UCLA. His name and likeness was used and sold to Electronic Arts for video games. The NCAA got paid for the licensing but O'Bannon never got paid. If he wins this case it opens up every college athlete to demand their share past and going forward. We all know that the revenue generated by teams and TV contracts gets split up to fund all NCAA programs but will they be able to cope with any compensations deserved by the athletes for their names and likenesses?
