My friend informed me of something... Is it true?!

My friend just said that he was doing a essay in English about legal prositution in the world today. He was shocked to find out that "Canada has legal prositution as long as the prostitute does not advertise on the street" (I guess tell you her price).

He found an example of a prostitute being taken to court by an undercover police officer who had her on tape in public in downtown Toronto. On the tape, he asked "How much for just a lay?" and she replied "Come to my hotel room and we can go over prices there.". Right then, the judge said "Well, it looks like she knows the law officer" and all charges were dropped.

Anyone, maybe in the legal department, know if this is true? It seems so hard to believe right now. lol
