I love my movies. I love the escapism, I love the idea of new things, seeing things we haven't seen yet and people doing the unimaginable.
But what we also get are the tools people use, whether it be some amazing sci fi technology or the simplest little gadget.
Wasn't that long ago flight of fancy became real when Jim Kirks communicator became the mobile phone.
What else have seen in movies, that would be perfectly feasible in real life, yet was never followed through?
Perhaps a random first example.
Vasquez' smart *** on the waist swivel mount in Aliens (1986).
Wouldn't something like this in todays military have some reasonable applications? I'm not suggesting the marines kick open doors with 4 -5 foot long cannons, but that amount of portable firepower could come in handy.
