Re: ★Miss FreeOnes 2011 Round 1★
I never made New Year resolutions although sometimes I was thinking about January 1st to be a good starting point for quiting or starting things. Just because the start of a new year seemed to be a symbolic start for something new, a new kind of live, a new beginning.
But that's also the reason why I knew it would'nt work and why I never had any New Year resolutions. Because if you want to change anything you have to change them now, on that moment when you are thinking about it and when it feels 'right'. On that moment when you think by yourself "I want to quit smoking" (or whatever reason you have) and there's a feeling inside you that really wants it.
The problem with any resolution is that it's in the future. "Tomorrow I will quit smoking", "next week I'll start jogging", "next monday I will be more assertive", ... You are allways postponing it in front of you, delaying it, sometimes because you mean it and sometimes because you play games with yourself and actually don't want to. Same for New Year resolutions. And when the day comes the feeling you had is gone. Even more, it suddenly feels like you are obliged. And for me that doesn't work so well.
Hey I have a question for you guys. I know it may seem a bit premature but it's for an article I am writing for one of the magazines I work for. It's about New Years resolutions. Do you have any? Do you make them? Do you ever stick to them and if not why do you think that is? I would LOVE some feedback on those very questions if anyone is willing to.
