Microsoft unveils patch package

You know, Microsoft has missed a trick here..
Why haven't they packaged the patches in a box, shipped them to stores and renamed them 'upgrades'?

It's just the sort of blind, short-sightedness that has left Bill Gates with Barely two mansions to rub together.

"Windows users are being urged to install the June package of security patches from Microsoft."

should have been replaced with:
"Windows users are being urged to realise that this is not a bug, it's a feature."

wonder what the original hype for vista was as it relates to these patches, sometimes they seem to hype their stuff and what it can/will do then two months later what was hyped gets exploited .

They will. It will be called Vista II. A special deal will allow them to package a roll of duct tape in the box.

The press said it was buggy and awaiting a fix, when it was released. Some of the vids on the different Windows threads here are very funny.

Sometimes when it crashes, MS offers you advice or solutions. But not once did they say to buy an Apple. :dunno:

Yeppers! Sometimes the duct tape falls off.

They need better tape! Duct tape holds the world together you know?

Think of this as just Microsoft's gift to the general public for beta testing virtually all their software for them for the last 20 years so they didn't have to.

In Microsoft's defense ... but ...

In Microsoft defense, even Linux and MacOS X require security patches.
The big difference between those OSes and Windows is that core automation in the Windows executive results in a lot of non-interactive exploits.
I.e., even if you turn the security settings way up to anal levels in Windows, there's still a lot of core automation in the core of Windows to exploit.
It's been that way since MS IE's libraries were put at the core of the OS and required in anything built with Visual Studio.

Hmmm..not sure if I'll be tempted.

Depends what colour the duct tape is..
