i was never the biggest schumacher fan in the world, but he never really had an equal (except maybe alonso). senna doesn't count, he died to early in schumacher's career.

of course, he'll be 41 next season, and the mercedes (ne brawn) team are a relative unknown, as they have fewer resources than the bigger teams, and a repeat of last season's technical shenanigans seems unlikely.

BUT it will still be great fun to see him drive against the new guys... and alonso.

merry christmas, mercedes and michael.

The Chin is back!

Once Senna had taught him his place,

I accepted Schumacher as the heir apparent to the throne after Senna was killed. I even cheered for him.

Then he pulled that chickenshit move on Villeneuve and I booed him from that point on. But enough time has passed now. He really is a great racer. And I look forward to seeing The Chin return. I hope that he still has it.

The last three F1 seasons have been great! Next year should be no exception. And more teams to boot! :nanner:

I can't believe they fet that guy back in... after that crash some time ago when he followed his motorbike race folly and injured his neck

But it will make F1 way more interesting

If you read any of the autosporting sites, there hasn't been any official word about him coming back. All of the mainstream news sources have latched on and are trying to make it true. ;-)

he's gonna do bad.

and he's gonna fucked up his legend.

I do agree with you somewhat, if he gets his ass handed to him a couple dozen times by a few of the younger drivers it wont be pretty. But Mercedes are a good team and I can actually see him doing well.

What about the chicken shit move on Damon Hill when they were fighting for the championship? Or the chicken shit move on Rubens Barrichello they called "team orders"?

Fuck him!

Can't argue with that.

Another thing about Schumacher that I didn't like was how Max "Spank My Ass" Mosley's FIA almost always sided with The Chin when there was a dispute. I believe it was Australia where he and Juan Pablo Montoya banged wheels. Nobody went off (as best I can remember). Juan was just announcing his presence and moving through. It was a racing incident. But because he passed the Mighty One and touched his delicate ass in doing so, guess who got a penalty? Juan!!! The FIA (under Balestre) never had a problem penalizing Senna. In fact, Asshole Balestre (RIP) almost drove Senna out of the sport. Not so for Schumacher. He only got a penalty if they caught him with a smoking gun in his hand. I've been watching F1 for a looooong time. And I don't believe I've ever seen a driver as favored by the officials as Schumacher.

So why do I look forward to him coming back? There are already some great drivers in F1. But that sumbitch is one of the all time greats now. And in order to be somebody, you have to beat somebody. This will be like some youngster gunning down a legendary gunfighter to make his mark. Alonso has already beaten the Shoe. I want Hamilton to have a chance to put a bullet in him too. :)

Why couldn't he have signed up with Ferrari again...

The fellow who forced Schumacher into retirement to begin with (to get Raikkonen) is still the Chairman of FIAT and Ferrari: Luca di Montezemolo. Plus they have a solid 2010 lineup with Alonso and Massa.
