Some time ago the decision was made to split the talk section of the board and give it two subsections. Those being the politics and sports sections. I can sort of see why it was done, but the execution of it was bad. To be frank and brutally honest this might be the single worst decision about the sites organization made here. The sections of sports and politics almost receive no comments, and the regular talk section has become a wasteland of mindless porn drivel and has fallen very far from what it once was many years ago. The quality of posting on this place is just about dead along with the quality posters.
I propose a suggestion that I feel would go some ways to fix this, assuming it's not too late to fix the damage, which it might be. Either further subdivide the talk section of this messageboard into a porn and non-porn related sections, (lets face it the regular talk section has pretty much become a de facto porn only related thing anyhow) or even better yet create a porn and non-porn sections for the talk area but merge the politics and sports sections back into the non-porn talk once you create it. That way all the mindless juvenile porn related crap can be contained, and all the non-sport and politics stuff that doesn't have much to do with porn won't get overwhelmed by it. True the rare quality porn related thread will still get swamped by the crap, but there is probably not much that can be done about that. Maybe if we are lucky we can get some quality posters back, and perhaps get some new ones that can intelligently discuss issues.
I have visited this messageboard almost every single day for what will soon be coming up on ten years now. I still do. When I say "almost every single day" I mean I might be able to count the number of ones I missed on my fingers in an almost ten year span if I bothered to keep count and didn't count the ones where my Internet was out. Once I was one of this places most prolific posters, especially as somebody that didn't link spam in the babes section. Now I can go days without making a single post, and it's getting worse. It kind of worries me. Sooner or later there will just come a time when I quit posting, and after that, quit coming here.
