http://metro.co.uk/2018/01/05/megha...-celebrate-engagement-visit-sex-shop-7206449/ Meghan Trainor and Daryl Sabara are totally loved up after getting engaged in December. And the soon-to-be newlyweds look like they’re getting a headstart on their honeymoon. Meghan, 24, and Daryl, 25, looked like they were living their best lives as they left a Los Angeles sex shop with a bag full of goodies. All About That Bass singer Meghan, who was dressed down in leggings, a hoodie and trainers, was seen gripping a long receipt as she and her fiancé left the Romantix Adult Store in L.A. Spy Kids star Daryl held open the door behind her, showing an array of naughty costumes in the shop, and was carrying a dark plastic bag which seemed to be holding multiple boxes.
yeah the album delay is because "No Excuses" didnt chart well and the other 3 singles she released didn't chart AT ALL, so the label knew her album would flop and do badly sales wise. Meghan's problem is that pop music is dead right now and she doesnt have any "edgy" music, she's pretty cookie cutter, vanilla and wholesome which nobody is interested in at the moment. Doubt the additional months from the delay will do her any good since her style is pretty one-dimensional so doubt she'll be able to change her style enough to appeal to fans outside of her own hardcore fanbase.
her first two albums had singles that did very well on the charts. so it's not about the number of songs but rather because the singles from her third album did EXCEPTIONALLY POOR on the charts (only one of four even charted at all). You gotta read between the lines sometimes, even Meghan's body language suggested she was BSing. I get you're a hardcore fan but obviously this is just a (bad) excuse for the delay. She announced her album date MONTHS before it was slated to release so her and the label obviously already had more than enough songs for the album. But hey, she nor the label can say "yeah the songs flopped so we need more time to write new ones or the album would do poorly" ... so they have to make up an excuse (though this is a pretty poor and transparent excuse). And yes the songs themselves weren't bad but people clearly didnt respond to them well. The same thing happened to Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry with their last albums. Almost all of their singles flopped and the album performed below expectation. Taylor Swift, though performing better chart wise than Gaga, Miley, Katy or Meg, had the same issue as well which is why none of her singles outside of Delicate stayed in the top 20 for more than a month. So Meghan's label saw the inevitable and decided instead of just accepting the album flopping, would delay and try to get more new material.
Trainor described The Love Train as a predecessor to her upcoming third major-label studio album, Treat Myself. The EP was a commercial underperformance, charting at number 10 on the US Digital Albums chart, and numbers 34 and 37 on Top Current Albums and Top Album Sales respectively.
In Spotify's interview Meghan Trainor spoke a little bit about the album "Treat Myself" and their songs released last year: "I felt that no one was satisfied with it ... It's heartbreaking when a song of yours does not work."
When asked about the importance of charts, Meghan says, "I used to find it important, and still do, it's always gonna be there, it's heartbreaking though if none of my songs work. It's crazy, because I'm one of the top artists on Amazon Music, you can be hot one minute and not the next. I'm loving all the hip-hop doing great now, but the pop genre is not doing so hot, it makes me want to hold onto my album until it actually has a real chance. Ever since the first album did so well, I'm constantly judging myself, I still have songs that I can chart." someone prophesied it
If this was literally any other female artist, this album would not be coming out. The lead single flopped, the next two songs made literally no impact anywhere - How is this still getting released?
Edit: AND she's on Epic Records, a division of SONY of all labels - how has she not been dropped? - Last edited: Jul 20, 2018
-- I love that the singles don't even have chart positions on Wiki, it's just a dash. Looking at her previous chart positions, this seems like a perfect case for the 'Artists who quickly declined in popularity' thread. What happened?
