Ed Koch will forever be the face of New York. They should mint a coin with his face on it. We all remember him on the Brooklyn Bridge during the transit strike encouraging the citizens to fight the transit fare hikes. I remember 2 incidents after he left office that will stick in my mind forever.
The city wanted to ban corking in restaurants that didn't have liqueur licenses. Many neighborhood places that were small and frequented by locals and tourists just didn't have the space or huge dollars to justify that very expensive license. Ed Koch decided to go to one of his favorite local restaurants and bring a bottle of **** with him to share with some guests. He challenged the city to arrest him for opening up his bottle of ****. The city backed down.
On The People's Court he had a woman that was suing her ******** for wedding costs and her monetary gift because she didn't marry a man up to her expectations. The ****** said that she expected her ******** to buy a house and not live in an apartment. Koch jumped up and said,"Millions of people just like me live in apartments. What do feel is wrong with living in an apartment? I live in an apartment." The old bitch just got stomped on by that giant boot. Sad to see the end of him but he enjoyed his days till the end. He deserved it.
