Mass Effect 2 has been confirmed for PS3. The game is supposed to come out in january 2011 and it wil include hours of bonus content.

Then I want to see Metal Gear Solid 4 go to the XBOX 360. It's only fair.
On the flipside after thinking about it more, the whole thing doesn't make any sense. ME 1 is not coming to PS3, so there goes the trilogy. You know, the choices that you make to effect the entire ME universe, including the characters Ashley and Kaiden. All PS3 owners get is the default story. I'm also pretty sure the hours of bonus content is the DLC that's already been released for the XBOX 360.
I don't really care about the game going to PS3, (personally I'd rather do away with exclusivity on all games) but this better not delay the development time for the new DLC and ME 3.

PS3 owners are gonna miss out on using characters from mass effect 1 in mass effect 2. Also they won't understand the whole story without playing the first game. I also hope it doesn't delay the new DLC and Mass effect 3.

In all honesty, Mass Effect 1 will probably never ever go to the PS3, Microsoft Game Studios owns it. A PS3 owner on the XBOX forums said it best about the ME 2 announcement, "You don't watch The Lord of the Rings trilogy and skip The Fellowship of the Ring."
Some people are thinking that Bioware will include a condensed version of the first game as part of the "hours of bonus content", one that will hit the major decisions. IMO, considering that the first game is pretty important to the overall scheme of the trilogy I think it's a mistake to release the second one without it.

You cannot condense 30 hours of gameplay and background into a "mini game", to much would need sacrificed. You might make the big decisions but only after being force fed information to justify those decisions. Its a curious move, going to the ps3, but I dont see it taking off to well. Its a good game regardless of the platform, but it'd be like watching the star wars trilogy starting with the empire strikes back.
You'll play the game, understand a small amount of the story, but wont really give a shit about it.
Mass Effect is really the only reason I've kept my 360 around. Still though, I won't be getting this one as like others have said you need the first part as it's fun to transfer your character from game to game and since BioWare said that decisions you made in the first game will still be linked to the third game then I'll just stick it out with the 360 for the time being. It's a trilogy.

not happening as first the MGS4 engine was PS3 only unlike ME2 engine which was for both PS3 & 360
also ME2 was 2 DVD which can fit on single layer blu-ray.it is difficult to fit 50GB MGS4 and work,you will need huge installation and multiple discs for that
yeah it would be difficult but there is nothing that "doesn't make sense"
many players can play it on PC and the carry over part is dependent on the player if they want to to
i played both but i had deleted my save way before ME2 released.i know it can make a difference but not as much as you are exaggerating it to be.
bonus content will have some kind of pre-ME2 story movie and other stuff.also SONY tells devs to put some kind of extra content like in TOV,NGS2 and that makes it sell a little better too
this is nowhere near delaying anything much as PS3 version is easy as ME2 is developed on multiplatform engine and the dlc
and anyways i like when games come after 3 years atleast as i don't like sequels coming out again and again 1-2years

there are many 360 owners which like ME series but not the usual other 360 games and have kept their 360 only for few games,ME2 release on PS3 gives them a reason to stop playing on 360 and go completely over to other platform
and many PS3 only owners have also played it on PC or can play it on PC.

Second of all, Microsoft does own the rights to ME 1 because they are the publisher of the console version. I didn't say they own the IP. Just the first game and they've already come out and said that ME 1 is staying exclusive to XBOX 360 in the wake of this announcement.
Third of all, I don't believe in exclusivity when it comes to third party titles.
Fourth of all, I don't need to buy ME 2 on PS3 because I own both games on XBOX 360.
Fifth of all, since day one the game was built up to be a trilogy. Key word, trilogy. Like the movie analogies, you don't start in the middle of the story and not every one plays games on their PCs.

EA published the PC version and Bioware owns the ME IP so they can actually take it out.either its because the game is too old or MS has a time period clause.but surely after some time Bioware can take it out,its another decision if they want to take it out as it will be financially profitable or not.

Because this is a cash grab and nothing more by a company that is known for this kind of shit. They're porting an inferior product over to the PS3 when it was perfectly fine on the 360. They're essentially porting half a game just to make money.
When Mass Effect 3 comes out, I am getting it for 360. It will be the superior experience.
