Marvel NOW! Collects (All of) the #1s in June Omnibus

If you're looking to catch up with the Marvel NOW! initiative — all of it — you'll get that chance with a 688-page omnibus in June.

First announced via Publishers Weekly, the hardcover book retails for $99.99 and will contain all of the #1 issues under the Marvel NOW! umbrella, plus the first issues of revamped existing series featuring the branding, like Journey Into Mystery #646, Avengers Assemble #9 and Red She-Hulk #358.

DC released a similar volume last year collecting all 52 #1 issues of their New 52 relaunch, which clocked in at 1,216 pages at $150.

The timing of the release suggests that at least the first wave of Marvel NOW! launches — which started in October with Uncanny Avengers #1 — will end by June, but the "and more" in the solicitation suggests that there may still be more announcements to come. The most recently unveiled Marvel NOW! series is the new Wolverine by Paul Cornell and Alan Davis, debuting in March.

Here's the full solicitation:

Who's buying this?

I read several of the first issues. I am a huge comic fan and have been looking for a reason to get back into Marvel. I figured this would be a perfect time with the re-boot and all. I must say that I was far from impressed. I will admit I am a DC fanboy, but that doesn't mean I don't like Marvel. I have always enjoyed their comics, particularly the X-Men story lines.

With a re-boot, or even restarting the numbering are typically good points to jump into the story. If it's not a true re-boot things are explained for new readers. This was not the case for almost the entire Marvel NOW starts. I was totally lost. I am not new to the universe and I know a lot of the characters and their histories. But I just couldn't get what was going on, they left in a lot from the old stories which caused a great deal of confusion.

I wanted to like it, I really did.

I have a few new threads on this subject. They should help you understand.

Marvel is a revamp and DC is a reboot.

Not a great idea, but it is what it is.
