There's more to this than meets the eye, that one guy couldn't have possibly kidnapped all 4 people alone :dunno: Let's hope the other 3 are found alive.

Arrested: Matthew Hoffman, 30, was arrested after Sarah Maynard was found in a Mount Vernon basement

A 13-year-old Ohio girl who had gone missing with her brother, mother and a family friend was found safe early today, authorities said.

The other three people have not been located.

Sarah Maynard was been found safe in the basement of a home in Mount Vernon, Ohio, and was being evaluated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. She was allegedly found bound and gagged.

Matthew Hoffman, 30, is under arrest for kidnapping, with additional charges expected.

The whereabouts of the teen's mother, Tina Herrmann, brother Kody Maynard and family friend Stephanie Sprang are still unknown.

Ohio police are still searching for the trio, whose alarming disappearance prompted an Ohio college to go on lockdown overnight as police warned of a 'potentially dangerous person in the vicinity'.

The 32-year-old Herrmann was reported missing by her boyfriend on Wednesday. When she did not show up for work at a Dairy Queen on Thursday, her co-workers went to her Howard home looking for her and soon after called the police.

Knox County Sheriff David Barber said: 'A co-worker came out and met deputies out here. Her truck was gone.'

Still missing with Herrmann are her 10-year-old son and Sprang, 41.

Whereabouts unknown: Herrman's son Kody Maynard, 10, and 41-year-old family friend Stephanie Sprang have not bee seen since Wednesday

The sheriff said: 'When [Herrmann's co-worker] went in, she saw some things out of place.'

He said a search of the home revealed it to be in 'unusual condition' for a place where woman and children lived, but did not specify what that meant.

Herrmann's ex-husband Larry Maynard said that a co-worker went inside the home and saw blood and things out of place before calling police.

Sheriff Barber and other sheriff's deputies would not comment on Mr Maynard's claim.

Herrmann's boyfriend Greg Borders told the Columbus Dispatch that the couple lived together but were in process of breaking up.

He said he last heard from her on Wednesday via text message, adding: 'We were both going to go our separate ways. We were fairly civil, as civil as you can be living in the same house when you're broken up.'

A spokesman for the FBI field office in Cincinnati said the agency was aware of the incident but could not comment on whether it would get involved in the investigation.

Ms Spring's car was found outside Herrmann's home on Thursday.

Herrmann's pickup truck was at the home on Wednesday when the boyfriend reported her missing, Sheriff Barber said, but it was found abandoned on Thursday night at nearby Kenyon College.

Police alerted the college that they believed the car may have been left there by a person involved in the group's disappearance.

The college sent out an e-mail to students on Thursday night, alerting them that 'local law enforcement advised of a potentially dangerous person in the vicinity'.

A spokesman for the college, however, told the Associated Press that the lockdown was purely precautionary and administrators did not believe students were ever at risk.

The lockdown was lifted at 7am today.

If he won't give up the location of the others, then torture him, and then set him free in the streets of Mount Vernon. The citizens of that town will take care of the rest.

Meh, people die every day. I feel no sympathy for these victims because I didn't know them.

Something is different in your user box though. Your avatar looks the same. But you changed your name? :surprise: Why doesn't it surprise me that some people didn't realize that Jane B and Jane Burgess were the same person?

^^^^ How dare you two hijack this thread? It's very insensitive in light of the fact there is a missing family in Ohio that nobody here has ever met that is in a really bad situation that nobody here will ever do a damn thing about. Shame on you!

So what did this Hoffman beast do? It's senseless stuff like this that really makes me weep for humanity.

I did hear one neighbor have a refreshing take on this oxygen theif. You know how most of the time in this situation the neighbors are always like "Gee, I never saw it coming. He was quiet and just kept to himself, I never expected he would be beheading dogs and eating their brains.."

Nope, this one neighbor girl said "Well I'm not surprised one bit. He was a goddamn wierdo creep scumbag and I hope they find him soon and cut his balls off...."

Yes, thank GOD for the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution. :hatsoff:

Especially for the females. I'm a relatively street smart dude who isn't afraid to get into a good old brawl, but even I know that there are dudes twice as big as me with three felonies and doing home invasions hopped up on Angel Dust. All I need for my home defense is a Remington pump with buckshot and that will eliminate and would-be cockroaches.
