Lord Of The Rings

Hey I was just wondering, what people thought about the movies. Do you think Peter Jackson did a good job following Tolkien's Book, or was it a waste of time?
I thought he did pretty good but some parts shoulda have been included. And I didn't like the endings too too much.

you seen the trailor yet...woo hoo...tho im disapointed about shelob

and kinda happy i geuss got a horibble problem with aracnaphobia

but hate to say it this thread is gonna cause arguments...

especially with what im about to say

so dont flame me its just my opinion!

fellowship was a near perfect masterpiece

two towers...a monstrosoty...changed to many things from the book....i.e faramir who is a very strong charactor in the book and in the film potryed exactly like his brother and father. and i was board with the pippin and merry story. ..in the first one there was a big charactor difference between the two but in this they are virtually the same. Dont get me wrong tho it had good moments too gollum was surpurband the only thing for me that made me wanna watch it again. Editing was poor too...rushed and by the sounds of it sames gonna happen to return of the king theatrical version i just hope they correct it on the extended editions

just to back up my editing problem...they made a mistake toward the start of the film where pippen and merry are shimmying thru the battle between the orcs, uruks and rohirrim (not sure if thats the correct spelling) in once shot you see pippen running and crawling with his hands in bonds then the next shot when you see him under the horse about to get trampled on there are no bonds on his hands...then the next shot when merry pulls him away the bonds are back on.....just seemed like a rushed mistake which was even corrected in the theatrical dvd release...

i shut up my windging now....

all in all peter jackson has done a good job at the adaption and what with two towers being the connecting piece it was gonna be hard to do

i will be sad when its all over cause the films are so special to me the day it came out was the day i got together with my girlfriend and thats the film we went to see (both being mad film addicts) and we been going strong ever since :->

RETURN OF THE KING couldnt come sooner

just on a lighter note to try and calm the fumes cause your prolly all pissed after reading this.Did anyone see the pertitions going around on the internet to change the names of The Two Towers and Return of the King?...their arguemtn was that The Two Towers was a mockery name of September 11th and it was disrespectfull yadda yadda and return of the king is even more stupid because its disrespecting elvis....i've never laughed so much in my life

Yeah I heard about those petitions. I think it's absolutely absurd that they would do anything like that. First off the September 11th thing was to the "Twin Towers". Who ever started this is a nutcase and the Elvis one. People should think twice. This book was made before he was even famous, and I really don't like Elvis at all. Sorry Elvis Fans. It's like saying change the name of the book. It just won't happen. Some people think they are so smart. Sorry if I sound hypocritical but I'm just speaking my mind.

On to something else. I personally liked both movies that came out. The battle of Helm's Deep was amazing. I was astonished. Legolas once again showed his combat skills like when he was riding the shield down the stairs and owning the orcs. That was a gold moment. The trailer for the third one had me off my chair. It was intense. I honestly can't wait for it to come out like most of the fans out their. It was a breathtaking moment of my life :p.

I encourage all of you to watch the third one when it comes out. It will quite possibly be the best movie of the year, and also the best trilogy out there.

even though i saw FoTR and TTT before i started reading the books i feel that the films missed too much out. Although they're excellent the missed out such important events and characters. I remember the film of TTT being totally different to the book. but i'm happy that the films are as good as they are, i'd dread a Hollywood trilogy of LoTR

ar....arnie as gandalf
pamala anderson as arwen
owen wilson as aragon
just a midget to play all the hobits and gimli
Sly Stallone as Sauron
freedie prince jr as legolas
and so on and so forth...oh how good would that be!

I didn't think Shelob looked too bad in the trailer, you couldn't really judge her size as it was just her head/shoulders around the corner chasing Frodo. I'd still liked to have seen her at the end of TTT, but I guess they needed to up the monster count I RotK.

***SPOILER***

I'm wondering how they're going to do the army of the dead that rides with Aragorn. I've never really pictured them as zombie types, although I'm sure that's how they'll appear.

***SPOILER***

Silicone: I thought Faramir was pretty good. He did allow the hobbits to go, something I don't think Boromir would have done - sorta shows the difference there - he'd let them leave, while Boromir tried to take the ring. Also, most of his whining/self loathing and need for attention doesn't pop up until RotK.

I doubt anybody's gonna read that jumbled mess.

So, yeah, I think the movies are great - and at least there's no singing...

i think on the trailor at the start when you see aragon with legolas there is a split second shot where the screen gores white...sort of giving you an idea of whats to come

however i believe that they will do it in 'frodo vision' as someone refered to it at theonering.org (where gladriel goes nuts and the ghosts in the dead marches) which i fucking hated...it looked like somut outta jason and the argunoughts...but hell i couldnt really come up with anything betta myself to be honest!..lol

in regards to farair...yes i totally agree with you...but i'd just like to point out boromir never had the chance to listen to 'wondefull sam's corny speach at the end' which sort of changed faramir mind for some reason....never did quite get that....

i dunno...from what i hear PJ has decided to leave out the Houses of Healing (dont worry no spoilers) WTF is wrong with PJ!...he must really hate the Faramir charactor either that or he is worried that faramir will get more limelight then aragon lol...god knows....you gotta admit tho...why leave that out?....it ws only a spy report on theonering.net so dont take it as bible :)

peace all!

btw i really love this board....hell if i was to say something like that on IMDB.com...i'd get ripped spell checked smoked and banned

they are so stuck up there own ass over there and everyone here seems so calm and down to earth and with the abillity to disscusss rather then argue....you guys! are top just wanted to point that out!

**SPOILER**

Silicone:

I just checked the trailer (it took me a couple of tries) and it appears the flash of white shows something's vision of Gimli, Aragorn and Legolas (if you pause it at exactly 4 seconds in, you can see it quite clearly).

Of course, I'm assuming you mean the flash right after Legolas says "the enemy is moving". It did kinda looks like Twilight vision, but it may have just been a quick pan towards them. It does kinda look different when you watch it normally though - we'll probably have to wait until the release to see that army.

**SPOILER**

Also, in regards to the Brormir never hearing Sam's speech, he did attend the meeting at Rivendall - so you'd think the importance would be better placed in his head. I suppose though, that Tolkien was trying to show the underdog (Faramir as compared to his older brother) becoming the greater hero.

Although that may be a hard thing to do, I can't see much being better than Boromir's death at the end of FotR - other than Yoda's death, I think that's been the most impactful for me.

Finally, how sweet did that Fell Beast look swooping down onto the battle field?

dammmm sweet....i love the shot where gandolf rides on shadowfax up those stairs and you get a massive shot of the mordorian army...hella cool...you can see it betta on the trailor on the theatircal dvd

Now that Rotk is only a mere 60 or so days away, it seems only right to reflect on how good the 1st to films were! Now i no that Pete has taken certain libertys with im...........elves at helms deep......cough, ahem but on the whole hes done a damn good job.
Now with the return of the king i jst hope he doesnt go over board, i heard there was talk of Aragorn goin one on one with Sauron himself and Golloum doing the noble thing (for those who have read the book you know what i mean, or at least i hope you do) But jst to sum things up am really lookin fwrd to this film and will miss them when there finished! well until we have petes follow up "BOROMIRS REVENGE":D

Ma boy Felty wld love this thread! wonder were hes at!?

Silicone: That Gandalf scene is awesome, but I prefer the one where he's riding up the stairs, and the fell beast lands in front of him. That looks so badass, but I doubt even Shadowfax would stand in front of one of them.

Optimus: Aragorn does go one-on-one with Sauron, but it's through the palantir from what I've read. As for Boromir's revenge, in the extended TTT there's a scene with him in it. I'm not sure what it is, but I heard it somewhere.

I just hope they have Gollum's "sneak" scene when they are entering Shelobs lair. It's best in the radio play, when Samwise accuses Gollum of sneaking about, then Gollum starts a tirade about how he's "Gollum the Sneak". It's really well done and funny in the play.

I'd say depending on how RotK turns out, this trilogy just may beat Star Wars...maybe.

the extended scene with boromir in two towers is faramir recalling his last days with boromir when he was sent out to rivendale...thats my thought anyways

dont get me wrong i do love the beloved trilogy (star wars) but mr lucas sure has given it a bad image now with the new films...they just seem to be being dragged down the pan hole but only hanging on cause of cult status because of lucas's new films

Sweet, check out Shelob!

I know what you mean about the new Star Wars trilogy, I still like them though - especially Christopher Lee in the last one, he's always been a favourite actor of mine.

Episdoe 3 should be good though, I just hope Boba gets to kill Mace Windu...
