‘Our family is grieving right now and it’s a private matter.’

They are said to have been 'blind-sided' by the death, with a source telling Us Weekly: 'The family legitimately doesn't know what happened. They're still trying to find out.'

Nick, 32, is scheduled to take to the road with the Backstreet Boys later this spring and dedicated the upcoming tour to his sister.

His publicist Jack Ketsoyan told MailOnline: 'Nick is thankful to the many people and the fans who have shared their wishes and prayers during this tragic time. We want to let the fans know the tour will go on as promised.'

Nick said: 'Performing is cathartic to me and I am dedicating the rest of my tour to my sister since she loved to watch me perform.'

Today Aaron, 24, appeared to take over Leslie's open Facebook account, posting a message that read: 'Hey this is aaron we are going to keep her facebook up..! i will add ppl so we keep leslie alive! we love les.'

Aaron will take leave from his role in the off-Broadway production of The Fantasticks.

'His Fantasticks family loves him and offers him support and prayers during this difficult time,' John Capo, the spokesperson for the production, told said E! Online.

'Aaron's understudy and friend, Matt Leisy, will be covering Aaron's role until his return. We thank everyone for the outpouring of concern for Aaron.'

In 1999 Leslie, who also played the piano and clarinet, signed a deal with Dreamworks Records but an album was never released.

In happier times: The family starred in their own reality TV show House of Carters in 2006

Parents: Leslie's mother Jane and father Bob Carter in 2001

As well as Nick, Aaron, Leslie also has two sisters, Bobbie, who is the eldest of the brood and Aaron's twin Angel.

Their parents are Jane Elizabeth and Robert Gene Carter, who divorced in 2003, Robert, who has another daughter from a previous marriage went on to marry Ginger Elrod in 2004.

Robert and Ginger, who also has a child from a previous relationship, had a son Kaden in 2005.

The family starred in their own reality show in 2006 called House of Carters, but the show only last for one series.

Leslie's younger brother Aaron found fame in the 1990s as a tween pop singer but he has had his fair share of problems.

In 2006 Araon proposed to Playboy model Kari Ann Peniche, but broke off the relationship shortly after.

On February 21, 2008, Aaron was arrested in Texas, when he was pulled over for speeding, and authorities found less than two ounces of marijuana in his car.

Last year the singer, who has dated Lindsay Lohan and Hilary Duff, checked into rehab after his manager stated he needed 'to heal some emotional and spiritual issues he was dealing with.'

Backstreet Boys singer Nick has also had run ins with the law and has been arrested twice.

The singer, who used to date Paris Hilton, was arrested in 2002 after getting involved in a fight in a nightclub and in 2005 he was arrested in Huntington Beach, California for drink driving.

Nick has also spoken out with his rocky road to recovery after a 10-year battle with drink and drugs in the past.

'I would make excuses to just go out to drink and party,' told Ellen DeGeneres in 2009. 'It was excessive ... Alcohol kind of kicked it off and then once the alcohol wasn't doing it for me I would lean on other things.'

He decided to get sober after he was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, a weakening of the heart muscle, in 2008.

Why is this news?

Why am I supposed to care about the sister I didn't know about, of a member in a band I don't listen to who only recorded one failed album and was member of two failed bands?

Where as if she was ancient and barren, she'd be spared no pity.

I'm just saying its sad when someone who has their whole life ahead of them dies too soon. I don't feel bad for old people when they die because they've lived out their lives already.

I think DOA's point is that people, of all ages and conditions, die on a daily basis. If the particular individual has done nothing noteworthy, fame-worthy, etc... that posting threads like these is akin to just opening up the obituary page in one's local newspaper and posting a story about how "19 year old Joe Schmo died in Milwaukee, WI today."

Of course, death is and can always be a sad and tragic thing. And of course, one can't help but feel a certain amount of sympathy for the deceased, especially if said individual is leaving behind a family, spouse, kids, etc... But beyond that, probably 100+ people, the world over, have died in the time that it took me to write this post, and arguably, none of them merit a thread detailing their passing.

Sad story, but I agree with DOA (for the 1st time ever, I think!) in believing that this story is less than newsworthy. :2 cents:

I didn't say the story was newsworthy...it certainly isn't because she isn't famous at all. Nor has she made any sort of impact on the public. She IS just a regular Joe Schmoe and quite frankly not many people care about her dying unless they are, of course like me, a fan of the Backstreet Boys as thats her only claim to any level of fame. Thats the only reason she's in the news anyways. I'm just saying that any young mother being taken before her time is sad, regardless of what her last name is. Sad for her, sad for the child she's left behind. Doesn't matter if she's newsworthy or not, its just plain sad.

Wow. Just Wow.

wow, what? Sorry, if you're 95yrs old and its your time to go, then yeah why am I going to cry about that? Them getting to live out a full life is something to be HAPPY for them. Its just the way life is, you live, and you die. If you're one of the lucky ones you get to live a life thats full and complete. So why would I be sad for someone who's reached their living potential? Sure I feel sad for the ones they left behind that have to miss them, but for the actual people who got to walk around this earth for as long as humanly possible? I'm happy for them, not sad. When my grandpa died, he was 86 and not one tear was shed at his funeral because he wasn't supposed to live past his 70's (heart disease)....he got an extra decade and we were so happy about that. I'll save my tears for the ones who didn't get to live their dreams and see their children and grandchildren grow up. You don't need to "wow. Just wow." me for that.

I think its the callous generalisation of life that astounds me. I thought I was cynical but I always thought it was important to value a good person regardless of what they have done, did do, or cant because they're dead.

25 year old stoner who accomplished nothing dies at 25 in car crash. But that's okay because he might have done something tomorrow.

95 year old on the brink of achieving life's goal dies in sleep. Screw em, they've lived long enough - To hell with what they can do regardless of age.

a persons circumstances in life has nothing to do with this conversation. Both people in your examples are people wasting their lives...25 yrs old throwing away life for drugs and a 95 yr old that took their whole life to achieve their goals? Sorry but in both cases I don't feel sad. Life is a gift, its up to each of us to use it to the best of our ability. To those who throw it away - no pity. To those who live it to its fullest - much respect and happiness. But I stand by my point, death isn't always something to be sad in. Death can sometimes be a chance to celebrate the life that once was and be happy for what that person accomplished. I don't get why I'm considered callous for not wallowing in someones death and rather feeling happy that their life was so full? And in the same respect, feeling sadness for someone who didn't get a chance to live out their life.

Seriously is my thinking way out of line people? Is it really not ok to feel happiness with ones accomplishments during their life and choosing to revel in them rather than be sad at their time of death?

My last point in this short lived debate is simply that I never said the 95 year old took a lifetime to achieve a goal, I said "on the brink of achieving life's goal" - It would actually be possible for a person to set them self a goal that would take their whole life to achieve. I'm not gonna bother with examples - I don't care anymore, I think we've talked once in the past and it ended up the same way so I will throw in the towel and be elsewhere on the board for the duration of my stay.

lol why do you always get so upset when debating with me? this thread topic isn't even important, its about the dead sister of a Backstreet boys member....

I do. But mainly because I want Nick Carters penor inside me stat.

But seriously, its sad. Especially because she's young and has a baby. RIP.

No offense, but

Also, I really couldn't care much less about this. It sucks for her family and child but this happens 100,000 times a day to 100,000 different families.

lol yeah he was a huge douchenozzle to me. Thats why I said I wanna boink him and not marry him ;)

Anyhoo, TMZ is reporting she had a prescription drug problem and its suspected that she OD'ed. Another life lost to stupidity. Opening up another can of worms but why birth a child if you have a problem with drugs? If you can't take care of yourself, you can't take care of a child. Blah I hate seeing this shit.
