This past May, Kennedy Summers was chosen as the 2014 Playmate of the Year (for 2013 calendar year).
Playboy launched a promotion drive to encourage fans to vote for their favorite playmate. However, Editor-in-Chief Hugh Hefner would ultimately retain the final decision. It has become clear that Kennedy Summers was not the “peoples choice” for PMOY. In fact, every poll I have seen regarding the question of who should be named PMOY - 2014, has overwhelmingly shown Alyssa Arce to be the no. 1 choice among Playboy subscribers.
PMOY Survey (396 voters):

So, under the circumstances, is Hugh Hefner’s selection of Kennedy Summers "acceptable" in your mind?
Does Hugh's "veto power" essentially disenfranchise Playboy’s fan base, particularly its subscribers?
Anyone have any theories or know of any rumors as to why Mr. Hefner would’ve chosen Kennedy Summers over the far more popular Ms. Arce ?
And finally, if you were in Mr. Hefner's position, given the apparent disparity between yourself and your subscribers on this issue, would you remove yourself from future Playmate-of-the-Year decisions and simply let the fan base (your customers) decide, or would you as the magazine’s founder and Editor-in-Chief, continue to retain full authority over the coveted honor? Remember Playboy is your "baby", you've nurtured her now for over 60 years... since the very beginning. Would you be willing to relinquish control of such an historically monumental decision as Playmate of the Year?
