Simpleton...I know the definition but what you apparently don't know is the erstwhile and typical application...as in 'uppity n...'... Most commonly people (in the US) just refer to someone as arrogant or pompous who is arrogant or pompous...They don't usually use 'uppity'.

'Uppity' according to history books was mainly a reference to some blacks who during Civil War Reconstruction got into politics, etc. Just like other period expressions such as 'carpet bagger'.:2 cents:

'Carpet bagger' has a simple meaning but it also has/had a typical application.

Okay. At least you made yourself clear. I'm just doing a lot of history stuff right now and that term has been popping up a bit. It's descriptive. It's to the point. Kanye is a drama queen and he has a real poor attitude. I have one of his CDs I got from Cheapo for a couple bucks (the second one?), but I spun it once and tossed it with the rest my dust-collecting discs. Really, I can't dig an artists who is as superficial as West.

If you've paid attention to the theme of some of my posts on here, you'd see I don't accept 'norms,' and words, to me, are just words. No one person has control over or can decide what they mean. Political correctness gets no love from me.
