Judge jails rape victim for contempt; victim placed in cell next to her attacker

myFOXdetroit.com - It's already extremely hard for rape victims to come to court and testify. This alleged rape victim says the only reason she came back was to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else.

This woman found the courage to come back to court and testify against one of the men who she says beat her with everything from a chair, to a two-by-four and raped her repeatedly before she found a way to escape from this Strasberg Street in Detroit.

That nightmare only continued at a Wednesday hearing , when she claims defense attorney Gabi Silver kept badgering her on the stand insinuating that she brought this attack on herself, causing this victim to snap in court.

"I said just get to the point bitch, it slipped out, it was inappropriate... all the bottled anger" says the alleged victim.

Without a warning, she says 36th District Judge Vanessa Bradley held her in contempt and ordered her to spend three days in jail.

After our story aired Wednesday, exposing what happened - the judge seemed to have a change of heart and released her a day early.

But to make matters even worse, she says her time in a holding cell was spent right next door to her alleged attacker who she says threatened her life, claiming the suspect who is still on the loose will come back and kill her. An investigation into this matter is underway.

I think this woman has a new mission in life. To see to it, that EVERY registered voter in that judges district, is aware of her actions, and fully informed for the next coming election. She should also call the bar association, and file complaints.

Similar thing happened to me.
Wanna hear? Well I gonna say it either way.

A nutjob couple attacked me, ambushed me.
They were out to kill me if I had let them.
The guy was wired up on some drugs that i only wish i had too and the girl was just nuts.
So I'm trying to fight off the guy and the girl is trying to cave in my skull with a rock........finally after banging the guys head into a brick wall a few times they took off in their van.Luckily for me I was strong enough to fight back, he couldnt take me.
So here i was , neck all red, scratched up like crazy, forehead bleeding from the rock.
I call the police. They show up about 1/2 later.
And nothing. they dont want to get involved, wouldnt even go look for them even though we told them where they live.
Here I am the victim of a savage assualt, could even call it attempted murder and no help from the police.

So I decide to press charges in case it happens again and i kill both of them at least its on record that it happened before.
I wind up in small claims court.
Small fucking claims court!
Then the judge says go into a room with them and a moderator and try to work this out.
The moderator was an older woman.
I tell the judge I'm not going in a room alone with these nuts, who knows what theyll do.
And theres nothing to work out, I was attacked.

But like a dumbass I did it and sure enough they both start yelling and getting all jumpy in the room.
The woman is scared shitless and starts shouting for help then cops come running in and grab the guy and me both.
I was just sitting in a chair the whole time! Next thing i know I'm cuffed.

I told the cops that I warned the judge that this was a bad idea and why I was there in the first place.
They said " We think youre in the wrong court.".

Finally when I get to speak to the judge I explain to him everything and he says , " youre in the wrong court"
I said " Ya think?"
You almost got me attacked again .

Fucked up system, fuck the police, fuck the court system.......avoid it at all costs.

Oak Park is a border suburb of Detroit. Oak Park technically isn't Detroit but it isn't cities away either. Detroit and Oak Park are separated by a street.

To the story...I thought it was the case that the victim was withholding testimony in that case it would have been reasonable to sanction her. However, she made an inadvertent statement..The judge could have admonished her right there in the witness stand IMO.

The fact that the victim was jailed next to the defendant and threatened is pretty screwed up. Not sure there's anything that can be done about it though....
