For you horror movies lovers out there, John Carpenter surely is a name you can deal with. Tell me what's your favourite movie of him. It was a hard choice for me, but I'd say it's "The Thing" (even if it's a remake from the 50s). I could watch that one again and again.

:hatsoff: Jackson

The Thing - gets my vote.
This film blew me away when I first saw it...
I'll never forget the guy's head sprouting legs and scuttling across the floor!!

I go for "The Thing" too...it's pretty cool, the couple of bits I always remember is when they're chained together doing the bloodtest on the bench and the other where the dogs head splits open! My first gut reaction was Halloween which is great for what it is but I think the "The Thing" is a more rounded film...been ages since I've watched it...I'll have to go dig out the DVD!

Let me just start off by saying I love most of John Carpenter's films but Halloween has got to be the most overrated horror movie EVER!! I find The Thing to be his best but also have a place in my heart for In the mouth of madness and Assault on precinct 13.

I gotta go with the Fog.... It was the first real Horror flick I got to see and can remember quite clearly!!!!

It scared the shit out of me!!!

I was only 12yrs old.....

It was hard for me to choice cos I am a Carpenter fan...i go see any movie he does...but ok i had to choose...I will pick The Thing....Great FX in that movie

im going with halloween, i really enjoyed that horror flick

I chose Prince Of Darkness; just liked it a lot!

The Fog (1980)
The Thing (1982)
Christine (1983)
Prince Of Darkness (1987)
They Live (1988)

I like the above movies by Carpenter. Hal Holbrook getting his head lopped off by the leper ghost was kinda cool. Kurt Russell in The Thing was good. Christine was EXCELLENT (Arnold CUNTINGHAM)!!

And who could ever forget that immortal line from 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper in They Live?

"I'm here to chew bubblegum and kick some ass. And sorry folks, I'm all out of bubblegum."

Halloween for me. I love most stuff from John Carpenter, though.

My top 5 would look something like this ...

Halloween
The Thing
The Fog
Escape From New York
They Live

BTW It's worth listening to the directors commentary on the dvd..
John Carpenter and Kurt Russell, both on there

Absolutely without a doubt, "The Thing" gets my vote! Even though by todays standards the effect aren't as impressive as they were when the movie came out but the twisted imagination of fx master Rob Bottin gave a new meaning to in your face terror! And the whole don't trust anyone theme to the plot made the horror even more edgy and creepy! I love the movie and have seen it more times than most would admit and I don't think I'll ever get tired of seeing it!
