Joe Biden’s Legacy

Now that Harris lost, we know Joe’s legacy is winding up quickly.

Will we know him as the man who stuck around too long? If he left last summer, the Dems could have had a traditional primary campaign.

… or should he have stayed in the race?

I cannot wait to see the finger pointing.

That's a great question. Gmase. If the Dems were able to have a primary who do you think might have won the nomination? Kamala Harris had an advantage in experience being a VP but also didn't do so great the last time she tried to get nominated as the Democrat candidate. Would Josh Shapiro have done better or would he have any kind of religious hurdle to get past being Jewish? How do you think our Governor Gavin Newsom would have fared if her were the 2024 candidate? Who else would be possible?

Had the dems done a primary perhaps the situation would be less catastrophic. But when you have a candidate that can't answer questions straight and that doesn't have a real economic program, it is by default a lost cause. Many people got tired of Joe and his gaffes let's not mention his disastrous foreign policy. Even Latino and Black people for a lot of them couldn't stand Kamala. As I said again and again,an imposed default candidate is often a way to fail or lost.

I wonder how many Americans were angry with Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and the Democrat party for trying to lie for as long as they did about Joe Biden's mental capacity. I realize they have to keep the corpse propped-up but trying to play Weekend At Biden's every day for 4 years didn't do them any favors. Having a committee of unelected officials running the country doesn't seem to be a protection of democracy to many people as well.

Will we know him as the man who stuck around too long?
This.

Even some dems are saying that his legacy is that he tanked Kamala's chances. You can't run a US presidential campaign in 100 days.
The writing was on the way even before the debate, but to paraphrase a favourite liberal quote - he persisted.

Biden would have won if he stayed in the race, it was a mistake to bow to the pressure to get out.

It may have been a worse drubbing for Dems if Biden stayed in the race (we will never know definitively). After his debate performance and an inability to recover quickly, it was looking bleak in the down-ballot races as well.

The question will be studied in depth over the next decades.

Joe Biden was plain horrible in that first 2024 debate. The Democrats allowed the economy to fester. High Inflation is always going to occur especially after a worldwide crisis. Historically there was rampant inflation after World War I, after the 1918 Pandemic and after the post Covid-19 Pandemic in 2020. The Democrats kept everyone in the dark on how to fix the economy. Wage growth and curbing unemployment were better during Biden's time in office than when Donald Trump was in office. However, inflation is always going to be a big reason why Joe Biden was a failure here. That and his lax immigration policy. The immigration issues started in two GOP strongholds. In Ron DeSantis' Florida and in Greg Abbott's Texas with having busloads of immigrants sent to Northern and Western cities. Donald Trump wanted chaos at the Southern border. That is why he urged House Republicans to vote against Immigration Reform. Joe Biden then needed to issue a Presidential Executive Order which stopped the immigration inflow. Just too little too late.

I was watching Michael Cohen and former House Republican Representative and strategist Joe Walsh (who, by the way, dislikes Donald Trump in the worst way) discuss the 2024 Presidential election during Michael's recent Mea Culpa podcast. Mr. Walsh said that Kamala Harris generally ran a good campaign. Mr. Walsh said that Joe Biden should have come out and said after the 2022 elections that he was not running for President. It would have had allowed the Democrats to have a proper Convention and the eventual Democratic nominee adequate time to run counter to Donald Trump's rhetoric. Mr. Walsh also said that Joe Biden should have had weekly fireside chats with the American public on steps needed on how to fix the economy. That would have kept the people informed and inflation would have been put in check.

Fears concerning the Democratic Party failures on immigration policies especially at the Southern border and in the Northern sanctuary cities all played into Donald Trump's hands and he ran with those two specific things (the economy and immigration fears) as being the reason why he won in a landslide victory. Not only with his election, but with the House and Senate elections too. I just hope that the continued Southern border mess does not turn into another steal and grift job for Steve Bannon and other cronies. We all know what happened the first time, leading to Bannon's criminal indictment (Trump pardoned him for it) and leading to the convictions of Brian Kolfage, Andrew Badolato and Timothy Shea. With Kristi Noem being the nominee for the head of the Office of Homeland Security who knows how this will end.

Do you think Joe forgot saying he would not pardon Hunter Biden? Surely he wouldn't lie. It's Joe Biden we're talking about here.
Reimplement the initial plea deal. What was Hunter's crime besides being Joe's son?

Speaking of liars ... Trump said he disavowed Project 2025 and now he's populating his administration with the creators. Oops.

Trump won - be happy. Nevermind Charles Kushner - pardoned by Trump and now nominated to be the Ambassador to France.

This here article from NBC doesn't mention Hunter Biden being convicted for being Joe Biden's son but NBC did mention the convictions for federal gun charges and federal tax evasion charges. That's what is says... according to NBC.

Hunter Biden was scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 12 for his conviction on federal gun charges. He also was set to be sentenced Dec. 16 in a separate criminal case in which he pleaded guilty to federal tax evasion charges in September.

Mr. Daystar

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
I would be willing to bet that old slow joe did it to make the democrats look bad. He feels betrayed and fucked over by the party, and since he's not likely to seek office anywhere else, why not fuck them over in any way he can? I'm sure he did it to save his kids useless ass too, but there's more to it than that. What he should have done was pardon trump too, and owned his anger and come right out with a big middle finger in the air, and let the dems know what assholes they are, and how they destroyed themselves with some of the stupid shit they pulled.

Who has more felony convictions? Trump or Hunter? Trump, by a mile, but both now have immunity. I see it even. No Trump supporters should be bitching. Biden's supporters need to temper their rhetoric since Biden flat-out lied. It doesn't mean Trump gets to use the card 1,000 times though.

Hunter had a plea deal which the Republicans got unwound in 2023. Biden did his son a favor to keep the attack dogs at bay. No excuse, but I get it.

Why pardon Trump? SCOTUS did the job for him.

Trump pardoned Jared's dad, so let's not go too hard on Joe. Plus, when Trump pardons his J6 buddies, we'll be flipping sides. :)

After all the low life degenerates that Trump pardoned, and Trump needing a pardon himself because he's a low-life degenerate, for real, Trump supporters really gonna nitpick a pardon for Joe Bidein's low-life degenerate son? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Make it make sense.

I am really enjoying what Joe Biden did but it looks like NBC just passed over their pearls for ABC to clutch on to.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/hunter-biden-pardon-sparks-backlash-020927165.html
Hunter Biden pleaded guilty over the summer to federal charges of failing to pay $1.4 million in taxes from 2016 to 2020. In a separate case, he was convicted of making false statements on a federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives form when he purchased a handgun in 2018 and said he was not using drugs at that time.

Hunter Biden was scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 12 in the federal gun case in Delaware and on Dec. 16 in the tax evasion case in California.

Due to the pardons his father issued on Sunday, both convictions are expected to be thrown out.

President Biden issued the pardons despite repeatedly making public statements that he would not interfere with justice. In a statement, he called the prosecution of his son "a miscarriage of justice" by his own Department of Justice.

100%. I'm not fond of joe, but I am sympathetic to his position. He doesn't just feel fucked over by his party, he feels fucked over by the American people who chose tump. On top of which, he has no political future, and he's going to want to spend time with the fam after January - he has nothing to gain by withholding the pardon. I think it's a dick move in terms of integrity, but personally, given his situation, I can't blame him for doing it.

What he should have done was pardon trump too, and owned his anger and come right out with a big middle finger in the air, and let the dems know what assholes they are, and how they destroyed themselves with some of the stupid shit they pulled.
That would have been epic. He could have even claimed himself as the ultimate unifier LOL.

I'm still sticking up for Joe here. At least this time he signed a paper that he knew what was written on it. That's somewhat Presidential. I know for 4 years people have been trying to convince us Joe was fresh as a daisy when they knew all along he was closer to pushing up daisies.

That's consistent with voting for diaper-wearing Trump.
