A bipartisan commission headed up by the elder Bush's former Secretary of State, James Baker, says that the situation in Iraq is a total fucked-up mess and that it is basically the result of serious mistakes made by the Bush administration:

Notice also how Bush's reaction to the commission's report is a helluva lot more humble than the swaggering "our way or the highway" cowboy he seemed to be before the disastrous results of the recent congressional elections:

Amazing what a serious kick in the balls from both sides of the political aisle will do to **** someone up! Too bad it's too late....we're stuck in Iraq for a long time to come it would appear. What a fucking shame.....
