It was genocidal aggression

President Richard Nixon: "… We want to decimate that goddamned place … North Vietnam is going to get reordered … It's about time. It's what should have been done years ago."

"You're so goddamned concerned about the civilians, and I don't give a damn. I don't care."
—Nixon to Kissinger in 1972, admonishing his aide about concerns over ******* Vietnamese civilians

The Vietnam war was not a disastrous mistake. It was murderous aggression.

Between 2-4 million Asians died there due to the American invasion.
58,000 Americans lost their lives.

I don't want to get in there, but do you know the name of the photographer(s) who took the last two pics you added?

Here... Here are the key to the world, go fix it and make it better. others have tried and failed, as will you. Shall we leave Indonesia as well. Looks like we are not really welcome there either. Premium Link Upgrade

Ya know, I don't see the point of these threads. If the point is that you're a Chomsky devotee, that's great.... I like him too. But unless you're able to put forth some sort of cohesive argument, then these threads don't add up to much.

Thanks, but I already know who Chomsky is, and I already know to use "Google." :)

I saw the girl in the last photo (obviously now a woman) in a TV interview a few years ago. She doing fine, if anyone's wondering.

I saw that, too. Unfortunately my memory fails me once again. Do you (or anyone) remember what the show or documentary was called?

I doubt you saw the saw programme I did, but the one I saw was a sort of "Famous photographs - where are they now?" special. I can't remember who else was on that show, which goes to show you that my memory isn't quite what it used to be either. :o

I think you may be talking of a National Geographic program - they have book of their best shots such as the famous girl with piercing blue eyes, and was a program to see where these people were now.

By George, I think you've got it! :hatsoff:

I don't watch much television, but I've seen quite a few National Geographic Specials, so there's a very good chance you're correct. However, I can't say I remeber this blue-eyed girl. Which photo would that be?

Hey, parker...

This is probably the woman and the story that Europa was referring to in his post:

I remember this issue... her green "cat's eyes" were so incredibly odd and vivid. I was back in high school at the time this issue was released to the newstand and can remember seeing it in the school library. Obviously, she's proved to be quite popular through the years because of those haunting eyes.

All major nations are guilty of this at some point of mass genocide. Mongolia, Greece, Italy, Germany, Russia, South America, England, Cambodia, Spain, Turkey, Israel, Iraq...take your pick, they're all responcible for the slaughter of millions at some point in history.
It's just Americas turn now.
*shrug*
Human nature.
