Is there such thing as being too polite?

A lot of girls say they like gentlemen, but I am thinking that is just not the case. I would say that I am very polite (please, thank you, excuse me, proper sentence constructions, etc.), and I am getting the feeling girls just don't dig this.

I am pretty laid back, but I make no exceptions when it comes to speaking properly. I don't really use slang, and I say things like "per se" in real life (something you never really hear anyone say, except possibly in writing). From my post, you should be able to tell that I am really like this. You can imagine I am pretty polite, considering the fact that I even proofread my own online forum posts!

I also have the feeling that phrases like excuse me will become extinct one of these days. It's more common for someone to just walk by.

I guess this is just a diatribe about women failing to see politeness as being a "plus."
