Is the current porn profit model sustainable long term?

I just don't get it. The porn industry pumps out millions (has to be millions) of free pictures and videos every year and dangles them as samples to entice people into paying for more. On top of that there are tons of sites where finding pirated versions of the "pay" content is trivial. Even if we ignore piracy (which we shouldn't), there is so much free stuff already, I don't understand how this model can continue. This entire board is based on the non-pirated free content and has more than enough porn for me. Is the pay stuff so amazing that I should be paying for it? I doubt it, but then again I've got a 35+ year history of being a porn consumer and have an impressive collection that will continue to exist even if porn is wiped from the internet by Chinese censorship someday.

I'd love to hear from content owners on this board for their thoughts on this topic but everyone, please discuss.

Sites like FreeOnes, etc. are .. appetizers. But, if you want FULL, :20+ length scenes - you need to either subscribe to an internet site, or buy a DVD.

For the digital stuff: I've never purchased access. But, I still do buy DVDs - *if* I'm direct mailed and the deal offers good value. Recently: Video Gold - I think it was buy 5 DVDs for $25, and you need to buy 2 more at full price. One I got I think with a $10-off coupon. The other I bought was a buy-one, get two-free. So, I got 9 DVDs for something like .. $60?

More and more pornstars are building their own brand (OnlyFans, Clips4Sale, cam-shows, etc...) so I think in the next future big porn companies like Brazzers are gonna loose ground, like a lot, particulary with the pornstars. They're gonna be forced to re-focus on newcomers but that spot is already taken so they're gonna though some hard times

The recession of 2008 and 2009 took out a lot of ladies sites. Kelly Jacobs, [nobabe]Lanny Barbie[/nobabe], Janine Lindemulder, adult models: Bobbi Billard, Rebecca Pauline, Tanya Danielle, etc. Then Jenna Jameson sold to Playboy. Danni Ashe sold to Penthouse. Nina Mercedez and Sandee Westgate closed up shop.

They've (Brazzers) has already lost sites. For example, Wicked Pictures and Playboy. Each has left the Brazzers Porn Portal. Mindgeek didn't own Wicked Pictures or Playboy. In one of my earlier posts years ago, I thought they owned Wicked Pictures. But like Playboy they just managed the sites for them. Now they did two really bad things on the sites they own. What Brazzers did to Reality Gang (uploaded all the videos from Big Sausage Pizza, Milf Cruiser, and Euro Brides and forgetting to upload the photo galleries. How do you do that? :dunno: What's left over there at Reality Gang? A few scenes of Big Sausage Pizza. Then let's talk about Twistys. What a disaster! Have you seen that site recently? Models' photo galleries and videos completely decimated. Navigation is so difficult in there as well. Shap, Twistys original owner should be utterly disappointed...

Mindgeek runs the tube sites: Pornhub (the free site and the premium site), YouPorn, Tube8, Porn8, PornMD, etc. So you are getting a site traffic to these free sites. Has questionable content been blocked too? Like stolen? I know they get cease and desist letters on a regular basis because uploaders violate the rules. Only sample videos and galleries are allowed over there.

Only a few independents are still around, NaughtyAmerica, BangBros., Manyvids, Videosz, Bang, [nobabe]NewSensations[/nobabe], Catalina Cruz, Kelly Madison, Pornfidelity, and Teenfidelity, PremiumPass (Nina Hartley), Miss Hybrid, and Michelle Thorne.

A lot of websites are going over to Gemma Entertainment and their Adult Time group. You'd be surprised how many sites are under their control. They run Evil Angel for John Stagliano and both the Tera Patrick, and Rocco Siffredi sites under the Fame Digital brand. Lexington Steele is part of Evil Angel as are Mark Wood and Francesca Le' under their LW Productions. Then the 21sextury related sites too.

Johan mentions, "Onlyfans, Clips4Sale, cam-shows." You also have Images4Sales, MFC, Streamate, LiveJasmin, or Chaturbate. If you are a pornstar or an adult model, you do have the Cyprus based, ModelCentro sites. You can set up one of those. Though I've heard from models over there that guys subscribe, only to steal the ladies' content.

Who else is doing porn? Girls are joining PornstarPlatinium, Puba or Vicky Vette's VNA.

That's a great summary, I'm assuming it is true, no reason to doubt you. It paints a picture of corporate consolidation with fewer (bigger) players chasing fewer dollars with the end product suffering. Feels like the answer to the original question I asked, "Is the current porn profit model sustainable long term?" is "No". Where it goes from here is anybody's guess. Maybe we are heading to a stage where the industry is going to be dominated by Walmart, Coca-Cola, and McDonald's (or their porn equivalents). mmmmm McPorn....

Thank you.

Another four hardcore sites that I did forget: Jules Jordan.com, the Hustler.com network, PerfectGonzo.com and UK's Killergram.

You can still view videos from the defunct: Mr.BigDicksHotChicks, Mr.ChewsAsianBeaver, SeeHerSquirt, BigTitPatrol, PleaseBangMyWife, TinysBlackAdventures (their huge BBC site), and BarefootManiacs on either Bang and Videosz. And partial scene videos are on free and premium sites for both xhamster and xvideos.

Long running sites Wifey, and Hot Wife Rio are still around. Angela White has her own site that's thriving. Masuimi Max has her site up too. Amber Lynn Bach still contributes to the Aziani network.

Then there are are also photographer's sites that are still around, most of it is softcore however: Holly Randall (and her site), Suze Randall (suzenet.com), Buzz Aziani (his main site, Aziani.com, although his wife, Rachel Aziani has stopped making content, since 2014), Anton Fury (his network, along with his other work at Gent-On-Line, D-Cup, Swank, Genesis, and as a side note Hustler Busty Beauties), J. Stephen Hicks' (since his passing Mark Lit runs it) called DigitalDesire.com. Todd Plinke and his TeaseUm.com and Woody aka Rascal Dog his owned Foxes.com. Angel Wicky told me that Denys DeFrancesco has sold his holdings in the DDF Network, but those sites are still viable working sites: ddf busty, 1byday, onlyblowjobs, houseoftaboo. hotlegsandfeet, etc. You also have James D and the Bella Network: Bryci and Katie Evan also do hardcore), Filippo Sano (Photodromm), Rich Cutrone, and Andy McFarland (WildAmaginations). Though both Rich Cutrone and Andy McFarland have stopped their pay for set-sites.

Lastly, other model sites, American: MetArt, Mac & Bumble, McNudes, BikiniRiot, AluringVixens, FTV (firsttimevideos), Watch4Beauty, Actiongirls, and Cosmid. Then UK model sites; the OnlySites (tease, opaque, secretaries, silk and satin, etc.), ThisIsGlamour, SocialGlamour, Studio66tv, Karups, etc.

** Mindgeek owns the free tube site RedPorn. Above I called it Tube8 by mistake.

Tube8 is valid. Porn8 is not. One last thing and I'll be quiet. Bob Guccione when he was running Penthouse had three great photographers working for him: Suze Randall, J. Stephen Hicks, and Earl Miller.

Earl Miller's website is also up as well:

I’ve read many stories of guys getting ripped off by women on Onlyfans or Patreon.Usually not getting the material they were promised. The more guys feel they are getting ripped off by sending money to someone online the less likely they are going to subscribe to a website or send money to any model.
