If my cholesterol wasn't high and I didn't need to get it down, then no, I wouldn't force myself to eat something I didn't like. Personally, I like a bit of oatmeal every now & again. I don't eat it that often, and my doctor told me that my cholesterol was in the range of that of a six month old baby. Which is rather odd, because that's also what my girlfriend claims my emotional development is. :dunno:
But around the start of this year, I decided to start eating better and exercising. I feel better, my blood pressure is back to normal, I have more energy and I still eat things that I like (that may not be so great for me), but I only eat my treats in moderation now. As the Stones song goes,
"I like the special pleasures of doing something wrong." So,
You'll Never Make a Saint of Me, and I'm not going to make myself miserable either. But when my dad had a stroke and I'd visit him in the hospital, I'd see people whose health had gone away all of a sudden. And that kind of misery is a hell of a lot worse than stuffing some oatmeal (or in my case, Brussels sprouts :eeew
![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
in my mouth. And if it came down to it, I'd rather try to get back to better health with food or diet, rather than having to pop a bunch of pills (with nasty side effects) every day.
