Depends on the circumstances.....if lying would cause a loved one to avoid pain and suffering, i think it would be ok, but like i said depends on the situation.....but in general, id have to say no.

Ever been asked "Do I look fat i this" or "Am I fat" or "Do you think she is prettier than me"

What are you going to answer????

Sure, why not? There are times when a lie would spare someones feelings or make a muddy situation clearer :2 cents:

It's good to be the king...
I can understand lying to protect loved ones from pain and harm - however in general I try to remember the following words:

You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time.
Abraham Lincoln (1809 - 1865), (attributed)

As of now....it's neck and neck.

And I did not know Lincoln supposedly said that.

I thought somebody wrote that for a Bugs Bunny cartoon or something.

That depends of the case and circumstances. In some cases, you are trying to defend your life then yes. In others cases, it is no.

I think there is a very limited set of circumstances where lying is the lesser of two evils. Most of them involve saving peoples lives or something else important.

That is an interesting point Georges. I did not think of that.

I mean if someone put a gun to my head and I thought a lie (that wouldn't hurt anybody else) would save my life - you are darn right I am going to lie.
But I agree in other cases - it should be no.

agreed
who is the babe in your avatar?

Well, if you say "depends on the circumstances", you're pretty much saying "yes, it's ok to lie- and here's when", which I happen to totally agree with.

There are just times when you may hurt someone worse with the truth.
