Is It OK To Stand Your Console On Its Side Vertically Or Better To Have It Flat Horizontally?

I've heard people say both things. I keep mine flat because I worry about the disc getting scratched.

Back when first started one con of standing was the disc tray becoming weak over time thus having the disc not properly aligned when running. And something about overhearing quicker...?

It is 100% better to have it flat. Some may say it saves space by having it vertical, but in reality it makes the console "harder to breathe". It may also cause problems for the game disc. I always keep mine flat. The only console I have vertical is my XB1 since it came with a stand and I already have it properly set up. My PS4 stays flat and it will remain that way.

Mine are flat. Wii I had on its side per the stand it came with, but I ended up putting it flat anyway.

Flat is best for the above mentioned reasons, but especially if you've got pets. My doggo's tail is a deadly weapon. The poor old modem for instance is a regular victim.

Yeah pets will take down anything that's vertical. Dog uses Tail Whip. Modem's defense is decreased! Poor modem.

Look at literally any external HD and how it's oriented. I would argue there's a reason they're all that way.
