internet explorer problem??

ok i have windows xp and use internet explorer. For the past few weeks i have had a problem with explorer. It works fine for about 5 mins then stops working. I then have to try and enter a web page about 20 times by continually clicking it before it starts working again after that it is fine. I have a virus checker and a firewall and have also run a spyware check so its not that. Any ideas anyone??
