The other day someone asked us if we had considered installing something called Tapatalk. Evidently it's a solution for mobile phone users to browse forums on their phone.

Something like 30,000 forums supposedly have the plugin installed so the Tapatalk app users can use it.

What I want to know is, if we installed the plugin on the board, how many people would use it? Especially since the app (iPhone, Android, webOS, Windows Phone 7, and Blackberry) is a paid app. I think I saw it was 2.47 euro in the Android Market. Not expensive, but you'd have to buy it to use the plugin.

So, thoughts?

The moment vbulletin offers a decent solution that doesn't almost triple the time the programmer needs to just update and maintain all the goodies you guys are accustomed to on this board...we'll add it.

We looked into it and it's an insane amount of time for board maintenance each time there's an update.

I only use a simple mobile phone, for telephone and sms use, and playing the little games on it.

I'd probably use it. I surf the board all the time on my phone on the bus and at work.

I'd buy it. 90% of my posts for over a year now have been from my phone. It can be a major hassle, especially if you're posting on an iPhone. On my Android it's not as bad. Still major room for improvement though.

if there were a mobile version of the forum i would certainly use that, there are other forums i post on regularly with my phone but it's too much of a hassle for me to bother when it's formatted as a PC webpage. i wouldn't buy an app though, the mobile sites work well enough for me...

im so cheap i dont even have actual service on my "smart phone." the phone itself was a gift.

but really, its not that bad browsing the forum on what its got already. im a cheap ass though.

i much prefer my browsing on the actual pc. im not a fan of typing on my phone anyway. theres no real buttons. its weird!

problem is that my p910i from 2003 has a symbian OS which is outdated and incompatible with tapatalk and my other mobile phone my HTC TNT TY2 from 2008 has windows 6, so my question will be is tapatalk windows 6 compatible? Or do I have to put some patch?? Both of these smartphones are more professional models than multimedia models. I have sometimes a terrible bandwith when accessing to my mails and reading some of them. Hopefully my carreer will soon put 4G LTE networks so mobile internet will be a lot faster.

I have a ticket in to have a look at what it does on our test board. Since we have customizations on our board, we're not sure what tapatalk will do with it.

So it is in the works, I just don't have an ETA right now since it's pretty low priority.
