I was abused by the cops an hour ago!

To quote Denzel Washington in Training Day when posed with the subject of a man being accused of committing an action that he did not do:

"a room full of cops says that you did. what do you think a jury is going to believe? it's not what you know, it's what you can prove."

If it ever even came to the point where the police had to explain what happened they would say that you were causing a scene, being hostile, belligerent and uncooperative and that is why they escorted you from the premises, and that would be the end of it.

the cops are the biggest racket in town, the only bigger bastards are the feds.

yes, i understand. but there are certain rules and definitions that are supposed to be followed. if someone can sufficiently demonstrate that, for example, i wasn't actually making a scene but peacefully, legally making a complaint, then something is wrong. i mean, i'm no lawyer, but i don't think you can just throw words around like uncooperative when they clearly don't apply. what was i being uncooperative about? i wasn't being arrested. i wasn't even asked to calm down, which would have been absurd considering i was relatively calm the whole time.

legally, someone is not allowed to put there hands on you and force you to do something unless it is justified within the bounds of the law. now regardless of you people here saying such ignorant things as "you're just bitching," the bottom line is unless you can prove that it is legally within their authority to do what they did, then they broke the law. get it?

That right there just shows how little you know about the United States' legal system. It's not "you broke the law" until someone proves otherwise. It's innocent until proven guilty.

I so very strongly disagree with many of you. Police (and people in general) will almost always mirror the same attitude you show them. If you behave in a gentlemanly fashion they will treat you as such in almost every circumstance.

For example, I was celebrating my 27th birthday a little too hard in downtown Omaha and should have called a taxi, but I didn't. I was driving the wrong way on a one way street when I noticed headlights coming at me in my lane. I took the next immediate right and as it would happen it was a police cruiser that was the headlights I saw. He pulled me over and asked for my DL, insurance, etc. Then he noticed the DOB on my license and asked how much I had to drink. I told him probably way too much and that I shouldn't be driving. His exact words to me were, "How far to your home?" I told him it was less than two miles. "Here's what is going to happen. I'm going to put on my roof lights and you are going to follow me. We are not going to travel above 25 mph." When we arrived he told me he would pass by the house a little later and if my car wasn't in the driveway he would haul me in. And that the only reason he was being so kind was that I answered his questions truthfully and showed him courtesy and respect.

I have never driven drunk since then and I have dealt with police many times as I have worked in a lot of different bars and casinos. And always they have been professional and courteous towards me because that is how I behave to them. When I have done something stupid, like driving with an expired license and getting caught, the officers involved were much more inclined to listen to me if I was calm, honest, and respectful.

Generally I would tell anyone with a complaint to put it in writing and mail it in because that is the only way to get through bureaucracy.

Yes sir and No sir go a long way when dealing with anyone in an authority position and if you can't manage that its best to keep your mouth shut and exercise your right to remain silent.

thanks for playing, but survey says that's the incorrect answer.

yes, and my proof could be either police station surveillance footage, witnesses or my own recollection of the event. so stick that one in your pipe and smoke it.

If you're going to be an ass they'll treat you like an ass. Was that the right answer?:D

yes, and my proof could be either police station surveillance footage, witnesses or my own recollection of the event. so stick that one in your pipe and smoke it.

A) Your own recollection holds zero ground when you're going up against the word of a police officer. Trust me, I've been there, done that.

B) Surveillance footage will also show the truth of this bullshit story, because I know you're not telling us everything that happened. My guess (if this actually happened)...you went to the police station just so you could bitch and moan about how much you hate police officers, you started getting mouthy with an officer and they ended up throwing you out, which they would have every right to do in that situation.

C) Why won't you tell us why you were at the police station in the first place? Is that damaging to your story's credibility? I'm willing to bet that the scenario I laid out in "B" was pretty much what happened. In which case, you would have no legal case against the police, as you were just being a cry baby whiner who deserved what he got.

Oh, and they didn't "abuse" you. It's not against the law for police officers to make you leave the police station; I've actually seen people get thrown out of police stations on a few occasions. It's not a public place where people can just congregate and bitch about how much they hate police officers, so, no...you have nothing to be upset about.

Milton......you don't waltz into the lions' den, pull their tail, and smack them on the nose. You just don't. When you have to speak with the cops, you KISS THEIR ASS. I know it sucks. I don't like it any more than you. But it is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

Dude.....you walked in and called them incompetent. Does that make what they did OK? No. Does it make it surprising?

No.

I feel for ya, though, I do. I've been hassled by them more than once in my life.

no. i've already made my case in detail. either go back and re-read what i wrote or go about your merry old way and continue with whatever it is you were doing. it's of no great concern to me.

it IS of great concern to you, after all you came here to whine about what happened to you, and now you want us all to approve your behaviour... but we won't, since what happened to you is entirely your fault.

Exactly. If people tell a story on the internet and somebody doesn't offer up all sorts of pity and sympathy for what happened to them, that person gets all defensive and angry. It's so stupid.

heil hitler!

on another note, yes, what happened to me is of great concern to me. as for if i get sympathy from a porn board, it doesn't matter to me. i was just interested to see how people respond.

A. this happened in a police station, so there is security footage of what happened. no my word against their word. it's the word of the camera that doesn't lie.

B. I didn't go there to bitch.

C. Refer to B's answer

D. Yes, it's abuse. It's called battery.

E. You're retarded.

The security camera would also reveal you, acting like a childish jackass. No, it's not battery. If you're going to be upset with our legal system and the people who represent it, try to actually understand it first. It's not battery unless they physically harmed/injured you. Since they didn't, they didn't batter you.

Once again (since you're ignoring this part of the story), why did you go the police station in the first place? I have a feeling that you did go there to bitch and you know that by admitting such, you will lose even more sympathy from the forum. Namreg was right...you're just looking for sympathy and you're calling everybody who doesn't give it to you a bunch of names. Case in point...

E. You're retarded.

You seem very mature. I'm sure you didn't provoke or offend the police officers at all.

come on man. someone should pay me given all the time i spend pointing out what you say that is wrong.

now listen carefully junior. go to this link here. http://www.expertlaw.com/library/personal_injury/assault_battery.html

and you will find this quote. Battery:
A battery is the willful or intentional touching of a person against that person’s will by another person, or by an object or substance put in motion by that other person. Please note that an offensive touching can constitute a battery even if it does not cause injury, and could not reasonably be expected to cause injury.

I'm sorry?

Two separate offenses against the person that when used in one expression may be defined as any unlawful and unpermitted touching of another. Assault is an act that creates an apprehension in another of an imminent, harmful, or offensive contact. The act consists of a threat of harm accompanied by an apparent, present ability to carry out the threat. Battery is a harmful or offensive touching of another.

So, still not going to tell us why you went to the police station in the first place, huh?

now junior, we can play the website game all night long. but i can prove you wrong by the standards of your own website. click on battery on the link you sent, and then scroll down, and read where it says, "Intent: Although the contact must be intended, there is no requirement that the defendant intend to harm or injure the victim."

You lose. I'll accept your resignation on my desk tomorrow morning.
