I Ate Domino's Pizza For The First Time In Ages Last Night

Domino's has good specials and I was wanting to give them another try. They were offering a Large w/3 toppings for $7.99. I got one with Pepperoni, Sausage, and Mushrooms. Had low expectations because I remember Domino's Pizza tasting like cardboard. I will say it's not gourmet but it is better now. The crust is way better and I liked the sauce. Decent pie for a nice deal. I'll be back. Might order some for Super Bowl.

Pizza Hut Super Supreme thin and crispy and Papa John's The Works is about all the chain pizza I can stand. And I have to be starving to eat those.

I ate McDonalds today for the first time in ages, and I do mean ages. It was pretty much what I remembered.

I don't have a Take n Bake pizzeria anywhere near me, and I miss those. Las Vegas pizza is world renowned for its suckitude, so I spend more on my local Panda Express.

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
I will only eat pizza from a mom & pop pizzeria. And there are only 2 in my area I will order from. They cost more, but it's worth it to me.

You guys can get a decent taco or burrito form anywhere and all I have is Taco Bell. Around here we laugh at chain pizza. Even with the coupons it's like, why eat that shit.

Fair point. After giving it 15 seconds of thought though, if given the choice I would take a good quality, reasonably easy to get pizza over Mexican food. Obviously I'd like the best of all worlds, but I'm talking about having to make a choice between the two. But that's my East Coast origins showing.

Here's the 2 differences. In the SW you get your spices, herbs, and vegies fresh year long. Varieties too and that's what you use. That stuff can't match what we grow here. What we get is either hot house or shipped or imported from elsewhere. With our pizzas in the NE, there is 1 important ingredient that makes the difference, water. It's what makes our dough and mozzarella. Same reason our bagels are so good.

I have always heard that is the reason for superior NY pizza and bagels. Didn't know that it was the case in Jersey as well. The pancakes taste better up there too. The absolute worst pizza I ever had was when I was staying near Newark Liberty and decided to have pizza delivered to my room. There is this flyer on my nightstand by a place called Soprano's. So I am thinking, Jersey, Soprano's, pizza.. it's gotta be good right? I mean they wouldn't risk being called an iconic name if it sucked. One slice and I set the box with the rest of the pie outside the door.

Let's meet halfway in Ace's cornfield and trade pizzas for tacos so we both get good stuff from the other coast.

Don't fucking drag me into this shit fight. I'm in Pennsylvania (not Iowa) until the house sells and then I'm back in Vegas.

Plenty of good pizza in sin city if you know where to look. And no, not California Pizza Kitchen (although I don't mind them except they're overpriced.) There's a couple chicago style places off D.I. and I think Pecos(?) that I really like. And Streets of New York, just off Durango and 95, not the best but the family that runs it is super nice. Rosati's on Durango made some pretty good pies, too (they don't put enough salt in their sauce, though).

And there are plenty of good taquierias. Best one I went to was in a gas station off Rancho and.....I forget. But they made awesome tortas. But nobody in the area makes Navajo-style tacos. I'll make some and post pics. They fucking rule.

New York pizza is overrated. It's like eating sauce and cheese off fucking crackers.

For the EMPEROR!!
Domino's here are pretty fuckin' ordinary. I hadn't had a pizza in years, literally, then one night night after I'd had a few I saw an ad for Domino's pizza so I thought why not.

It was really good, mostly because I was half pissed and starvin' and as I said it had been a long time since I had one.
A couple of days later, sober this time, I got another one and it was really crap. And that tomato paste/sauce they use tastes funny to me.

As a Chicagoan if I want NY style pizza, I'll just eat cardboard. It's the same shit........yeah I said it, come at me New Yorkers

This is gospel, I remember in a pizza thread a lot of yous made fun of me for appreciating Pizza Hut and Papa Johns, but even those are a rarity for me as there are way too many better options available, either authentic Mexican, real barbecue, or Cajun/Creole, you're right, why eat that shit.

The best pizza's I ever had was when I was in school. There was this little mum and pop pizza place called Tony Colossal Pizza.
Man they were the best. They're long gone now though.

Yea, I'll take you on. The reason it tastes like cardboard is because you don't know how to eat it. Never order a slice to be thrown into the oven to reheat. Anything hotter than room temperature is fine. It only takes a few seconds of that crust sitting on that hot surface to make it stiff. Never eat it when it first comes out of the oven also. That oil is enough to give you 3rd degree burns. As far as your Chicago goes, it's a nice try but if you have to use a knife and fork, it ain't a pizza.
