Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.
In reading a particular thread, it struck me how some members here claim to be "conservatives" or "Republicans" or whatever, yet some of those same people seem to fall well within the category that Mitt Romney spoke about in that recently released video: people who do not take responsibility for their own lives and situations. So I agree with Romney, that there are those among us who do not take proper responsibility for themselves. I do not agree that it is 47%, that it's always a permanent write-off or that it should be restricted to only those who are not (for whatever reason) currently paying federal income taxes - at only 9% net, ol' Mitt is pretty darn close to that himself... and his parents most certainly were in that group for a time. I think it's a lot lower than 47% and I think it includes some people who like to pretend that they take responsibility, when in fact, they do not... not really.
I'm really not picking on him and this is NOT about rah-rah Obama or boo-hiss Romney. And part of what I'm saying is not so much my exact feelings, but more a logical extension of what these people (pretend to) believe. But anyway, this is the post that made me make this thread:
One would be a fool to argue that everything is peaches & cream under Obama, no matter how much one might like Obama or even dislike Romney. But now, if you are a person who believes the theory that a person, as an individual, makes it on his own and the government has no hand in your success, how do you justify and support the belief that you are not as successful under Obama as you would be under Romney? That seems to be a deep logical hole to me.
Why are you unable to seize the bull by the horns and just go out into the world, as it is under any President, and just make yourself successful??? Why are you ********* to take responsibility for your own life and just get it done? Why are you so focused on the problems that exist and unable to take advantage of the opportunities that exist? The stock market is approaching record highs and has been on an upward run for going on three and a half years? Why haven't you learned how to trade stocks in that time? The real estate market is improving. Why haven't you prepared yourself to enter that market as an appraiser, real estate agent, mortgage banker, contractor or investor? So if you can't become one of those things, what's wrong with you? If the area in which you live still has a depressed economy, why haven't you found a place with a better economy, which would offer you greater opportunities? If you have bad credit and can't buy an investment property, how did you let yourself get bad credit? See, one can always put the question back to you as you might put it to these 47%'ers.
I'm sure there would be reasons for all of us to say why we couldn't or wouldn't do some of the things above. But if you are truly a person who believes that it is on you to do what's best for you, and the government has no hand in your success, then why do you need a particular President to carry you and essentially do it for you?
I believe that there are some people who are on welfare or assistance who really do have themselves to blame. And then there are handicapped, elderly or disabled people (including wounded veterans) who are in similar situations through no fault of their own. But I also believe there are people who are right on the borderline, who want to believe that they are not in that "irresponsible boat", but who actually are. I'm not saying that Meesterperfect is one of those people, but his complaints about the economy in his area (when the economy in my area and many others is actually pretty darn good right now) make me wonder why he doesn't just go some place else or do something else... and if he can't/won't, why and how did he (and others) get himself into that predicament???
Again, I'm not trying to pick on MP (seriously!). His post just set my thoughts in motion.

See if you ask these people to:
A - Forget party loyalty for a minute.
B - Forget his skin pigmentation.
C - forget their hatred for the other party
And ask them to honestly tell you what has gotten better in this country in the last 3.5 years or ask them what has Obama done to help make their lives better...........they won't answer, only get pissed and nasty with you.
The left likes to break people up into groups based on skin pigmention, ok so what has he done for blacks to have a better life?
What has he done for hispanics? Women?
Is it easier to buy a home? get a good job? start a business? Just what has he done?
Direct question, with all his promises of hope and change that the suckers fell for in masses, what has he done for you?
I said it here first years ago.he's a wolf in sheeps clothing. his intentions are to break it down, not build it up.
And he's doing a good job so far. And if it's not intentional than he is at best incompetent.
Oh and don't worry about those phony polls the biased media is throwing at us. thats just another trick they use to pursued the naive to join the winner. Romney is going around the country attracting huge crowds.
Considering all the ****** against him, especially the in full turbo obama campaign mode US media, Romney is doing just fine, And if they say he's down then he's probably up.
When it comes down to it most people will vote to save their families future over any other factor, and they know which lever that is.
