If you’ve earned the respect of a Marine, that is something to be proud of.
Marine are humains, just like you and me : some are dumb as fuck, some are Nobel Prize material
Marines deserve respect, just like teachers, priests, butchers, reporters, cops, firefighters, nurses, etc.
You're referring to Kelly and Mattis, right? Because nothing in the statement by the marine suggests respect for the idiot president - “I served 33 years in the Marines,” Cortez told Trump in hushed tones.
“Whoa, that’s fantastic,” Trump responded.
“I served with John Kelly and Jim Mattis,” Cortez continued, “and you got two one good ones.”
But of course why bother worrying about about what actually happened, when you can just chalk this up as another win for drumpf!
In fact, it's far more likely he was encouraging the stable genius not to do anything stupid, since it's been widely reported that trump is freezing out Kelly, keeping him out of meetings and decision making, as he's reportedly "tired of being told no" by the adult in the room.

Well here is the deal trigglypuff, I lived in the same house with a U.S. Marine for 18 years. I have some first hand interactions with them and know what they deem worthy of respect and what is not. Mattis and Kelly decided to serve in the Trump administration because they hold zero respect for the man.
Now run along and do whatever it is that you were doing to that jar of vegemite and leave discussion of Marines up to people who actually know a few.
