Holyfield beats Nielsen

 The Danes ought to be embarrassed. You'd think Evander would have needed help from the Dutch or something to win being that he's 48.

COPENHAGEN, Denmark – Former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield stopped Denmark's Brian Nielsen on a technical knockout in the 10th round Saturday night.

In the 10th round, the 48-year-old Holyfield pressed Nielson in the corner and the bout was halted after Holyfield landed several jabs in the corner and the Dane spat out some blood. Nielsen said after the bout he was hit by Holyfield's headbutts.

"My goal still is to be the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world," Holyfield said. "This fight showed other champions what I am able to do, but it also taught me I got to be better. The most important is that I didn't quit. I am not quitter."

You don't know how many times my family has said that it's time for him to retire.

No, his goal is to be the next Muhammad Ali or Joe Frazier, i.e. brain dead. Either that or he wants to pursonify the character that was Apollo Creed.

And about Neilsen: he is just another old bag like Holyfield. You want a real Danish/Viking warrior - Mikkel Kessler.

Evander Holyfield has become a sad story in himself...sadder is the fact he just fought and few people even knew about this fight.

I used to be a big fan of Evander Holyfield. A few years ago I swore I would never watch another one of his fights because he was so obviously fighting after he should have gotten out of the sport. He looked so old, it was just sad. I hope he doesn't end up scrambling his brains or even getting himself killed by still fighting at his age. He was a great champion, but it's time for him to hang up the gloves.

As a big boxing fan, he would risk serious injury or death in the ring with a top class heavyweight these days, if the power of a Klitschko or the speed of a Haye punch caught him I'd fear for the guy. Sadly, boxing commissions still allow him to continue, which is a disgrace.

Just shows the sad state of boxing. I used to be a huge fan but now, I couldnt even name 1 heavy weight fighter. The sport is all but gone...maybe 1 big fight a year from all weight classes combined.
