High School Football = Booooooooring

Sorry, THE worst high school sport alive. HS basketball, good. HS baseball, good. HS hockey, (in MN in particular) fucking awesome (we do afterall have THE largest state tournament in the country, period).

HS football = run, run, run, run, run, run, run, piece of shit pass, run, run.

Fuck. I just had to get that off my shoulders.

My nephew plays high school football. He is pretty good at it but he is waiting for baseball to start. He has his priorities in order.

It depends on where you are. I saw some HS games a cousin in Columbus, Ohio was playing in. This was some serious football and I remember being pretty damn impressed.

To a degree. I just saw my state championship (teams with a number of blue chip prospects) and the game made me sick. The running WAS terrific at time, but I like to see more explosiveness - more variety (in plays).

you're in Minnesota?
well, THERE'S your problem

sports audience in general, though, largely relies on you having a personal interest (knowing/identifying with someone on the team)

personally, though, I find the NFL completely obnoxious and unwatchable

tell someone in Texas, Ohio, Florida or California that High school Football is boring, youll be lucky to live another 5 seconds. I like any other level of football better than the NFL cause esp. in high school you get a variety of offensive styles that the NFL doesnt have which makes it more exciting for me. I hate the high school rules that prevent exciting plays from happening, thats my only gripe with it.

Like I said, it was the state championship title game with blue chip quality. It's the only game I watch, outside my alma mater, who has produced a few pros.

I've coached HS/college the past 16 years
Illinois has a pretty decent championship with all the Catholic powerhouses

Texas is another world. Where I'm at now is always fun. State championship isn't for another 2 weeks and every year its held over 2 days in the Superdome. So you catch a few games Friday, walk down to the quarter, get back to the hotel at 4 am, then check out the remaining games the next morning as you work through your buzz

Go to a high school football game in Texas, holy shit, those kids are good.

At least two of the backs I watched in the championship yesterday are going DI. A couple other players are definitely going DI. The running just go sooooo redundant I couldn't watch the entirety of the game.

Have to admit I just got done watching the AAA title game and it was pretty damn good. The quarterback was damn good for the one squad. Threw many great great passes - spirals, not that wounded duck shit. It was good I admit.

Watching sports in general is a snoozefest IMO, and I've never been an avid football player.

*waits for collective gasps*

Another thing that is bad about that level of competition is that physical dominance of a few players is pretty much the deciding factor in almost all contest. Usually a few people are so much better than everybody else they force their will on everybody, wash and repeat again and again and again. Things like game planing, strategy, and tactical awareness of the players really don't matter nearly as much as they do higher up, and especially as much as in the pros.
