Has porn helped homosexuality seem normal? In a word, No.

When I was growing up, it seemed that society in general viewed homosexuality as deviant behavior, or worse, but in my opinion, Hollywood did more to help homosexuality come out of the closet, so to speak. The comedy, Soap, was the first popular show that I remember having an openly gay character, but I really believe what changed most people's views, including my own, was MTV. Their shows illustrated that homosexuality was not deviant behavior, it's just the way someone is born. I now understand that being gay is nothing more than a trait like eye color, hair color, etc., and people shouldn't view it as anything bad.

Sadly the name of your thread implies a broader attitude than you actually mean.

Watching two girls walk hand in hand down the street, or two guys making out on the shady seat of a train, how I look at either is hardly affected by pornography.

Pornography is an exaggerated, blown widely out of reality sexual act between two people who are doing it for the money or the thrill. They are not a normal couple who made a conscious choice to be attracted to the same gender. I don't accept it because last night I watched an all girl strap on party, I accept it because we have reached a stage where society as a large has just accepted what is, what is.

By which I mean to say, gay people are out there, they exist, they live, they love and they have sex. Porn didn't alter my opinion of them, I don't care, if a person is happy doing what they want with someone who happens to share those feelings - and in turn has nothing whatsoever to do with me. Go Play!

The sad about this thread is that really, you mean homosexuality amongst women, i.e lesbians. Your a guy, lets face it, you wont be watching two guys going at it, if you did you wouldn't be posing that question on this thread.

Porn is not a means to quell your own prejudices - If you dont like a person because of their sexuality, colour, creed, whatever then seeing them drilled and taking a creampie will make little difference.

Also, I think DOA makes a good point. Many people don't openly discuss porn, and it's almost all looked at in private. I think that privately, yes. Porn has made many men a lot more comfortable with seeing other men paying hide the sausage. But move the same guys out of their private viewing spaces, and they're going to act just as homophobic as they ever have.

Society hasn't been shaped by this - just people private viewing habits.

I have to agree. Being gay is not a choice. It's just different.

As for myself, I see myself as different, but some guys would probably think, What the hell is wrong with him. I've never been turned on by watching a porno with two women having sex with other. I don't even care to watch some guy having a threesome with two women. That's just me.
