Hardcore Profits (BBC Documentary about porn industry)

Prince of the Rotten Milk

Thanks for letting me know about this. :glugglug:

Is a major porn producer any worse than a highflying oil baron, wall street trader or politician?

I've often heard it said that once you leave the "industry" no one cares about you anymore. Isn't that the same in almost any other profession? Once you leave McDonald’s they don’t care what happens to you either. Do they?

Porn and porn producers are just an easy target for TV producers who are chasing higher ratings. It's time we made another documentary any ideas? Something that will get men interested. Sport? We did that last week. Porn? Great idea. Men don’t need an excuse to look a sexy ladies. Do we?

What irritates me is when someone decides to add what I believe is a fake dramatic storyline to keep you interested. The best example would be Mari Possa in Seymore Butts a family business docu soap. I enjoyed watching it but I’m sure Mari was either already a porn star or had decided long before see joined the cast that she was going into porn. Where Seymore btw?

I think it’s a smart move getting featured in a porn documentary. Millions of potential customers get to see you all glammed up and many will remember your face or name and may well go out and buy some of your movies. All you have to do is make sure you are looking good and say or do something controversial or eye catching.

I remember watching another documentary on C4 which featured Natalie Heck aka Savannah Gold having what I now think was a staged argument with a small British porn producer. I could be wrong, naturally but it’s stuck in my mind and that’s all that really matters. And there was another one I saw with Vickie Powell where various guys were auditioning to become porn stars. It was really funny because before these guys tried it they were bragging about how good they are in bed and then when the producer put Vicky Powell in front of them and told them to fuck her most of these so-called studs couldn’t get it up. The look of raw embarrassment was priceless. I also watched another one with Sahara Knite where a woman in her mid forties left a good job with British Telecom to become a porn star when she didn't look that great and she wasn't willing to do much more than girl on girl. Needless to say her new career was over before it even got started.

I wonder if anybody else saw any of these docs and what happened to Nat, Vicky and Sahara?

But in answer to your original question I haven’t seen it yet but I’ll try and catch it on BBC’s website and let you know what I think. :yesyes: :yesyes: :yesyes:

Yeah I saw it, wasn't a particularly good piece.
Maybe it was the way it was edited but I couldn't help feeling slightly sorry for Nikki Jayne. Her bloke Ben English didn't come across too well, he seemed like a proper control freak, she needs to get rid of him fast.

I have now seen the doc. Here is my view.

It talks a fair bit about how new technology i.e. mobile phones are used to maximise profits in porn and they say the really big money is made by the banks and credit card companies which was a bit of a surprise to me. But this was all before the big crash.

In America the presenter speaks to a few of the bigger players and he tries to find out why the studios are still reluctant to use condoms. And he asks why performers are being pressured into doing more extreme acts. Isn’t that obvious? The end user prefers to watch sex without condoms and a good number want to watch more extreme sex acts and the customer gets what they want in this case.

But ultimately the general theme/message as always is porn is bad for your health. Is it?

I watched the show when it was on TV, and I thought it was a poor show that was edited to do a hatchet job on the adult business.

There was very little of actual Adult industry in it and was mainly about how supposed reputable companies make money of porn. The little bits with the porn people were okay but did nothing to show a balanced view of the the adult industry.

As bad as those people are you would think it would be hard to get worse, but the porn industry and the great many scum bags in it are indeed one of the very few things that are probably even worse. Porn has more scum in it than any other legal profession I can think of in the western world.

I said above that porn might be the worst industry as far as scumbags go, and Ben English/Derek Hay (I kind of like the name Ben Gay some people have called him before.) might very well be the biggest scumbag in the history of porn, which is damn hard accomplishment to pull off considering some of the competition. I've lost count to the number of nefarious, dirty, unethical, illegal, quasi-legal, and/or using activities I've heard he was a part of. Even if he does run Ladirectmodeling any performer with a brain in the industry and who doesn't want to get used would stay far away from him.

Yes, documentaries usually tend to make porn look bad, but that's not the point. The point is that how much money "clean" companies (like Vodafone) make by providing dirty porn services.

that's a fair point in my opinion. :wave2:

now i'm very curious to find out more about this Bad Boy Ben and Ladirectmodeling. i've also read a few people saying bad things about Ladirectmodeling. i know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover but he does look a bit sinister to me.

yep. whenever i've watched a porn doc they always seem to trash the industry. :2 cents:

rep to you all. :glugglug:

If these documentaries did more to highlight the more reputable people in the industry and stopped treating the whole thing like a dirty little secret, then I think you'd start to see a lot less scumbags.

RE BBC docu and Adultvest fund

“There is almost no money left in the fund,” an investor said. “Koenig has an American Express black card through the company that he uses on partying, girls and high living. Most money is missing and i.P.o.r.n. is not worth what he says it is.”

Site is down I think he is hiding. A good plan ripped a lot of investors who after they lost it all will not complain

PORN FIRST!
I havn't seen it, but I've gotten pretty interested in documentaries out of both positive/negative and impartial objectives. I just saw the CNBC documentary "Buisness of Pleausure", and it was pretty most all positive as far as I got it. It's interesting seeing all the different views on one thing. Not like a documentary with a negative view (which I guess most of them are) will make me give up porn or anything though! :)
