I'm for MS 'cuz they've never shot their own foot by castrating the hardware. PS2 has an ounce of memory, PS1 could barely pull 100,000 polys @ 320x240..

SNES was too slow and the games were made all the more expensive with their add-on chips/processors.. N64 had a handful of good games and was pretty much a joke because nintendo is so lax about using the disc format. Gamecube offered too many cutesy games and the dev's didnt exactly embrace it like they do with sony and MS...

But the 'Box and the 360.. huge, hulking beasts of a machine.. and made all the more popular, like the Dreamcast.. because of its piracy options.

I, for one liked the whole 'scene' around the DC with its emulation and you could get import games ALL over the place. The 'Box was great because you didnt need a Bullsh!t memory card and loading time was virtually nil when you copied your game to the HD. I cant say I'm a Halo fanboy, but.. its just sorta stupid to really fight MS. They're the unstoppable juggernaut that'll assimilate everything eventually.

Dont get me wrong, Sony's PS1 and 2 were a true gamer's dream with more games than you could ever want.. but the machine couldnt play them to their fullest and thats just a cryin' shame!

As for sony, they lost their ass in developing and manufacturing the PS3. Profits will be low probably for the next year, I heard that they are loosing close to a grand for each PS3 they manufacture and sell. Xbox has some good games and I stress SOME. Halo 2 is fuckin awsome and Halo 3 will be the shit for sure, but that's ALL they have going for them! Other than that, I could care less about the rest of the xbox only games and all the others are for both systems anyway. I've been reading alot about the PS3 over the past couple months and sounds to me like they will be far supierior to 360. In just about every aspect except maybe online play. I'll admit xbox won when it came to graphics between it and PS2 but this time around PS3 will own 360 in all areas. But still I know that only time will tell!

I think Sony lost in the marketing strategy this time around, and they got a little too ambitious. Perhaps in a few years if the Playstation 3 does end up being that much better than the X-Box 360 and the programmers can get the most out of it they might be able to eventually pull ahead and make up for it. Of course by that time they might almost be ready for everybody to move to the next system also. I think Sony coming out later and having the price it has for its system is what's going to hurt it. I don’t know if the price people were saying it was going to be when it came out has come down or if it’s going to come down with time but there is just no way I’m spending $600 for a game system, whether or not it will be able to play the next generation high definition DVDs.

There is going to be a war in the years to come between blue ray and HD DVD and there WILL be a winner eventually . If hd dvd wins then people who have bought a ps3 will be stuck with a useless machine but for xbox 360 the worst that could happen would be having the hd dvd add on be useless not the console .

Right now, there is no way I can buy a PS3, it's too pricey and I don't have enough money nor do I want to charge it to any credit card until I pay off some of the balance, so unless Sony somehow convinces my boss to give me a big time raise...

I'd choose a PS3 over an X-Box 360 mostly because of all the PS1 and PS2 games I have that I still play just for fun oncei in a while. I guess this time I'll have to go for whichever one is the best deal and if I do choose the xbox this time hopefully the next generation GTA game that comes out for PS2 will eventually make it to Xbox too.

Yeah.. dont forget that games will be more expensive, for longer periods of time while the disc fabrication process for Blue-Ray is still WAY new. Around here you can find a 10 pack of single side DVD's in the dollar store.

GTA 4 is going to come out on ps3 and xbox 360 on october 17 2007 at the same time . As for backward compatibility , don't you think you should stick with your ps2 and not buy a ps3 if you are more interested in playing older games ?

Look, right now ps3 has no games, the few games that are coming out for it this year and next year have equals if not thier betters on the 360. FF is about the only game that ps3 has, guess what? That might change. Squareenix likes the 360 and with FFXI already out on the 360 that leaves room for othe FF games. Now, there are strict exclusives on the 360 you wont see on ps3, basically all of your first person shooters wont be seen on the ps3 because japanese dont play FPS's. There are four huge rpg's exclusive to the 360. Bio-shock, Lost odyssey, Mass effect, blue dragon. I dont think FFXIII will touch any of these three games, yes FFXIII's cut scenes might be nice, but thats just it they are cut scenes they are not actual game play. I think FF series is the most overated hunk of junk in the world. The games have ok story lines, ok play controls, and butt ass ugly graphics for actual game play. Hell a nintendo DS could put out better graphics then the ps2 does with its FFseries on actual game play video. I do not equate cutscenes with actual game graphics. Anyone who does is just retarded.
Actually the best cutscenes out there is Gears of War, not only are the cutscenes awsome, but the cutscenes are what the actual game play looks like, and not only the actual single/co-op play look like the cutscenes, but the multiplayer game looks just as good.

I have a 360 and realized the only exclusive games for xbox are shooters! Now I like shooters, but I LOVE racing games! I've not played any of the PGR games. Forza 2 is gonna be for 360 as well, I assume also exclusive. Most other games are multi platform. Following this logic, 360 is the way to go if you like exclusive games! I just hope they start making some better games for 360 as I've been fairly disapointed thus far. Though I'm sure the same could be said for the PS3 games by this point!

Legzman, I dont want to sound condisending but do you actually play video games? Why I am saying that is because man, there are a whole slew of awsome games on the 360. Oblivion, chromehounds, Gears of War, rainbow 6 vegas, graw2. If your into racers then you will love the pgr series which is strictly 360. Forza well I havent really played nay of those but the demo for the new one is available online to download for free. Now if your an rpg fan down worry this fall and winter 4 huge rpg games are hitting the xbox. Still nothing yet for the ps3. They just dont have any games.

FYI, I've been playing for 23 years! Gears was great, chromehounds, I couldn't get into it. I've not played PGR. Rainbow was aight. I just don't feel that any game for either system is pushing the systems to their limits...yet, but time will tell!

I know there are great games for 360, I just haven't found them all, I've had a bad run with the crap I've rented lately. None really have replay value except gears thus far, IMO!

Whether you like it or not FF games are some of the best games out there and they sell well too. MS won't be getting any FF exclusives because 360 doesn't sell well in Japan and any FF game it will get will probably be a bad port. The main next gen FF games are designed around the white engine (a game engine built around the cell processor). Slim chance of the main FF games going to 360 (No FFXI doesn't count because it's a 5 year old port of a PS2/PC game). Not to mention that the PS3 hardware is more reliable than the 360's, and you get a cool blu ray player at a cheap price. There are only 2 games in this list that I really would like to play and they are Soul Calibur 4 and Tekken 6 . Ninja Gaiden sigma is basically a revamped version of the original xbox version for ps3 ( wich I didn't like anyway ) and for me the Splinter Cell series will always be better than MGS ( the only classic game in that series is MGS on PSONE in my opinion ) . I played The Gateway on PS2 and it was a cheap watered down GTA rip off so I think I'll pass on the ps3 version as well . And why would I want to play Gretzky hockey when there are at least 2 hockey games that are much better that I can get on 360 ( NHL and NHL 2k series ) ?

Thunder I'm not saying you should like the games I've listed, all I'm saying is that people should stop being fanboyish and consider that some people love the games I've listed. When I look at the 360's lineup I only see 2 games I wanna play also, and that's Halo 3 (I'm a big halo fan) and Gears. The rest seem boring to me. I don't like Mass Effect and I prefer GT series to Forza. The idea is for you to pick the console with games that appeal to you. I was trying to get "Togath" to understand that the fact he hates PS3 exclusives doesn't mean everyone hates them as well. Add to the fact that he was making up lies about GTA 5's timed exclusivity and I got pissed.
