I'm kind of surprised to not see any old school (30's through 60's) Blues song writers. I'd include Glenn Fry and Don Henley, too, as well Page/Plant - the former because of how classical and continuously popular their song-writing was and the latter for epic song-writing which remains influential to this day.

I would have to say it is Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds. He has numerous Grammy and American Music Awards. He written songs for or performed with artists such as: Eric Clapton, Madonna, Boyz II Men, Toni Braxton and many others.

gotta be dylan. look how much music changed from the early 60s to the late 60s. songs like "it's my party" sound so different from "hey joe" by hendrix it's hard to believe there only 3 years apart. they sound like 30 years apart. it's mainly cause of dylan and drugs that music made a huge leap in the mid 60s
