It is a great management game, better than fantasy premier league etc IMO.
I have never played a fantasy premier league so i don't know how many cups you play in but soccer manager certainly has 4 cups you can compete in against a mix of other players and CPU.
Each world has 4 divisions, there are several worlds(making it seem like world of warcraft or something)
On the free version you can manage two clubs, paid for 10 clubs, it has basically every club under the sun.
I took Celtic to 3rd place in division 2, losing in the playoffs to Liverpool. I also took them to the semi final of the World Champ Cup(equivalent of the champions league) even though i went out really early in the world champ shield(equivalent of the europa league).
I think it is good that you enter both IMO as you get more money.
With my other optional club i am currently near the end of the season with about 8 games left, i am 11 points clear in devision 4, it is at a difffernt stage since it is a different world.
I am about to play in the final of the world champ shield. With Boca Juniors
I would really reccomend the site as the transfer market never ends, it is competitve, you get money from various sources(i.e Season Ticket Receipts, Gate Receipts, TV Revenue, Sponsor, Merchandise , Cash Injection, Transfer Money In, Prize Money, Other Income), there are plent of formations you can use, they have every club in the world basically, the games are nicely spread out(league games-wednesday,saturday, cup games-mondays), you can arrange friendlies any time.
Every club is also entered into the SMFA cup or SMFA shield, although to manage your team there you have to pay £12/$19.58
If you pay you can also manage a national team, plus there are many other benefits.
