and google doesn't do this, it gives suggestions based on previous, popular searches. so this is evidence of absolutely nothing, except maybe that more and more people are beginning to realise that religion is shit.

All of those suggestions are questions cached by the recommendation engine. None of those are created by Google.

As does Yahoo!, Bing, and any other search engine you may use. As does Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and all of the other social networking sites. Google just happens to be honest about their privacy policy, while others leave users in the dark.

I have no idea why there is a general sentiment on this board that Google is some sort of evil entity. The one tech company has historically fought for its users, and genuinely tried to provide a better web experience seems to be trashed here far too often. Then again, in the past, the people I've seen trash Google the most turned out to be the most technologically ignorant people on here. Perhaps I am a bit biased because I've both worked with people from Google and have a number of close friends that work there, but I still don't understand.
