I thought this thread was about the old show on USA Network that later got retitled to G vs. E.

A pretty good show. Too bad it was cancelled before it's time due to low ratings.

I stopped believing in that parable when George W. Bush invaded Iraq and claimed America was the "Good guys" when the country was not. I stopped believing in that theory when John Wayne use to preach it in the war pictures he starred in. There is shades of grey...

It's about not giving into or "feeding" your negative emotions, just ignore them.
Negative emotions are useless, they are a disease infesting humans, and the root cause of most of our problems.
Positive emotions are empowering and usually benefit all, but negative emotions only make us do harm to others and ourselves.

But that has not much to do with the quote. You have to have faith in yourself and other people, society, your loved ones, not just political figures or certain individual people. I mean... all that quote says is that whichever side of yourself you feed the most (good or evil) wins. That's about an individual person, not people as a whole. And you know, just because George Bush sent troops over to Iraq doesn't mean the rest of the country agreed with it. Half the country hated it. That doesn't make our country bad, that makes some of the people IN our country bad, but most certainly not all of it.

You gotta have more faith in people.

Excellent post - rep to follow. :hatsoff:

Also, you may enjoy the song Timshel by Mumford & Sons while this is on your mind. The song and the underlying concept of timshel is basically about choices and our ability to make certain choices as we go through life. And not making a choice is still making a choice. Some people get that early on - other people, not until later in life. And some people will die just as ignorant on their death bed as the day they were born.
