Galaxy S 2 phone

not sure if this could go here or in the "talk" section

does anyone own one of these phones? and if so does anyone know a secret to keeping the damn thing from using battery power within 1 day!?
i have gone to 2 stores (t mobile stores) to ask if this is something normal and they say "yes" since its basically not a phone but more of a computer that you use as a phone! i have had days where i come home and it is at 6% i plug it in and fully charge it. when it beeps that it is fully charged i unplug it and overnight WITHOUT any use it goes down to 70%!
i have tried like the apps that save battery (juice defender?) and that actually drains the battery even quicker.
they clerks at the store tell me there is no way to stop apps that are included with the phone from running. but if you go to screen #7 there is an ACTIVE APPLICATIONS when i press that option and go to RAM and hit CLEAR MEMORY it always says 6 applications closed,20 applications closed,14 applications closed. there is always some amount of applications running even when i don't even touch the phone for hours!
i understand that nowadays the technology is wanted more than the life expectancy but this is nonsense that i am fully charging my battery everyday plus an hour or 2. i am lucky if i can get a full day with medium use out of the battery.
the clerks at the stores are useless!
any help would be greatly appreciated
